Buying this might just be the number one 'Must Don't'
Review of India: 55 Must See Places & 50 Must Do Things - Destination Infinity by koshkha

Advantages: Some good ideas of things to do
Disadvantages: Some very poor listings on places to go

Is that really all you need to do for an e-book? ‘India: 55 Must See Places and 50 Must Do Things’ by Destination Infinity is the sort of book whose sheer mediocrity inspires me. It inspires me to think “Hell’s teeth! Someone thought this was worth an ... Read review

It felt like Kevin and ME in India
Review of Kevin and I in India - Frank Kusy by koshkha

Advantages: Dripping with authenticity and honesty
Disadvantages: I have to give it back as it was only a loaner

Give me a good travel book and you can shut me up for days I am susceptible to the temptations of good travel writing especially if it’s about a journey in India. Sadly, I’ve read a lot of bad travel writing too but my June freebie from the Kindle Own ... Read review

The Mule Gun Is On The Yak
Review of Mustang A Lost Tibetan Kingdom - Michel Peissel by hiker

Advantages: Very readable account of a place that is only now changing
Disadvantages: None

Michel Peissel was a Frenchman. I automatically wrote "was" on the bland assumption that he is probably dead by now. He is, I checked. He died in Paris in 2011 at the age of 74. None of which is of interest. What is of interest is that one da ... Read review

Review of Around India in 80 Trains - Monisha Rajesh by koshkha

Advantages: A very readable and honest account of her travels
Disadvantages: Needs a map to put things into context

Superficial and Repetitive
Review of Frommer's Marrakech Day by Day - Kerry Walker by koshkha

Advantages: At least it doesn't weigh much
Disadvantages: Superficial and silly. Poorly structured and annoying

Travelling Light I have a few ideal travel companions; my husband, my bear, a hefty first aid kit and the Dorling Kindersley guide to wherever I’m going. Everything else is a bonus. If easyJet and Ryanair have their way, that’ll be pretty much any of ... Read review

Apples are from Kazakhstan
Review of In Search of Kazakhstan: The Land That Disappeared - Christopher Robbins by hiker

Advantages: Full of detail
Disadvantages: A bit naive in style

I've heard it said that since the release of the film Borat, tourism to Kazakhstan has rocketed. Having neither seen the film, nor being remotely inclined to, I cannot pass any comment on how likely that is. But having read Chris Robbins' book about the ... Read review

Move to the Country
Review of A House in Fez - Suzanna Clarke by hiker

Advantages: Interesting insights
Disadvantages: Somehow it didn't 'grab' me as much as I'd hoped

Perhaps it's a little unfair to come to A House in Fez still inspired by the storytelling of Tahir Shah's In Arabian Nights, because this is a very different take on Morocco, aimed (as a book) no doubt at a very different market, but reading the two in qu ... Read review

Review of Lonely Planet Pocket Sydney - Peter Dragicevich by Jo586

Advantages: Easy to locate information, doesn't take up a lot of room, map included
Disadvantages: You may want a book with a bit more detail and places
