Whether you have had a hard day at work or at home in the garden, you’ll find the citrus scent of these bath salts will revitalise you. The recipe is enough to make one large jar but if you want to make several jars to give as gifts then just multiply the quantities required.
Use ordinary salt to make these bath crystals, but in rock crystal form as this makes them very attractive to the eye. The blue food colouring just gives the effect you are sitting in the sea (use your imagination a little here).
You Will Need
18oz (500g) rock salt Blue food colouring Selection of essential oils- Juniper, Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit
Large mixing bowl Large airtight jar
Making The Bath Salts
1. Put the rock salt into your large mixing bowl and carefully pour a few drops of blue food colouring onto a spoon. Do not be tempted to drop it straight into the salt as only a few drops is needed as you don’t want to come out of the bath a deep blue colour.
2. Stir the food colouring into the salt and stir until it is evenly dispersed through the salt. Try to aim for an even pale blue colour instead of navy as mentioned before.
3. Now add the essential oils to the mixture in the following quantities. Eight drops of juniper, six drops of lemon, four drops of lime and two of grapefruit.
4. Stir well until evenly distributed and spoon the mixture into a suitable airtight container. Make sure the lid has a tight seal if the jar is going to live in the bathroom, as if any moisture penetrates the salt will go lumpy and bumpy.
There are many ways you can change this recipe by using just the main ingredients. Try different food colourings for different effects. Remember only ever use a few drop of the food colouring. Different colours layered in a jar looks very effective but if any moisture penetrates the colours will bleed and you will end up with a right mess.
Please make sure you use pure essential oils, as many aromathery oils are essential oils mixed with a base oil and will not blend well with the salt and once placed in the bath the oil will just float on top of the water rather than blending in completely.
You can add any essential oil you like by using the quantities above.
If you fancy making your own homemade bath bombs I have already written a recipe for these at http://www.uk.ciao.com/Bath_Bombs__Review_5269533
Advantages: Relax, have time for YOU Disadvantages: hard to find TIME FOR YOU
Ok, I'm not too sure if this catagory is for telling people how to make soap, or telling people how to relax? Whatever it's for, i'm going to write in it!
Anyway, this will be a short but helpful op if you try it!! (nothing will happen if you don't do anything!)
So, I would like to share a quick idea on how to make the perfectr relaxing Lavender bath... 1) Run a hot deep bath (hot enough to make lots of steam come off)
2) Add about 6-8 drops of ... ...turn off the light 4) be careful and get in the bath
5) Set your self a minimum time to be in the bath, remember this is time for yourself, the washing up can wait! 6) Relax!
7) Wash your hair last, just before you get out, otherwise the lavender smell will disappear. 8) Get out, however much you would like to, you can't stay in all day!
I know its only short and everyone is probably thinking "is that it" but trust me, its great
**Do not do this ...
