Advantages: My Set Lunchtime Menu (Aside From the Duck Salad), My 50th Review Disadvantages: No Vegetarian Option
Welcome to my 50th review. Having had this discussion with a few of the Ciao members I am lucky to call online friends, I have decided to make good the claim that I can actually cook *grin*
So, the review below is what I would have on my reasonably priced lunchtime menu, should I choose to run a restaurant one day. I believe that the whole menu is perfectly reasonably priced at £24 per diner, and for 3 courses, is in the same league as Gordon Ramsay ... ...standard of the cooking is as good, but it is certainly passable and The Blonde does rave about it. It has also been known in the past for me to be hired by friends (either paying for the ingredients and inviting me to eat with them if I cook) or to be hired by friends parents to cook for a dinner party for their friends and colleagues (This is subject to a kitchen inspection and only if I can set the menu and have all of the dietary requirements ...

Advantages: Its nice when you dont use vodka.... Disadvantages: You dont get lucky if you do use vodka......
After my last couple of heavy going reviews I thought I might treat you to another installment of Clinton's Cuisine……
Today is last night's tea …….Squabble and Eek…..
Shelle and I first made this a couple of years ago whilst holidaying in the lap of luxury…ala Clinton (Cara) van.
It was throwing it down (as per usual) and there actually seemed to be a lake outside the caravan door. It was Shelle's turn to go to the shops for provisions, but as ... ...of drowning in said 4" lake.
So we decided to use what we had in the fridge………
*****INGREDIENTS*****
As with most of my cooking I never actually weigh/measure anything so I am just giving you guestimates…….I also never seem capable of cooking for 2 or 4…so feel free to scale down the ingredients as I think I am cooking for the street again……
8 Chicken Breasts (oops no sorry that's 6…I always get a couple extra for my bra…)
15 salad potatoes ...

Advantages: really tasty, tried & tested for veggies and meat-eaters alike, easy-to-find ingredients Disadvantages: VERY HOT, if you don't like spicy food this really won't be for you!
...remotely interesting to me. Two, recipes that list copious amounts of unheard-of ingredients that I have never seen on the shelves at Sainsbury’s really bug me (have YOU ever heard of tamari or fermented soy beans? Please enlighten me if you have…and has anybody REALLY got things like rice vinegar in their cupboard ready to add ‘just a dash’ to recipes?) And three, you can write recipes on Ciao for fellow Ciao members to try – and to be honest, these ... ...my favourite, flavourful but FIERY recipes and see if any of you out there are prepared to take on my five-point chilli challenge! Hot food addicts only need apply! I will, however, arrange them in order of heat level for the less brave who might want to work their way down the list gradually…
~~~ CAUTION! ~~~
BEFORE YOU BEGIN…
Some of these involve some ready-made ingredients where L.A.’s cookery skills fall short of the mark, so make sure you ...
Advantages: Theyre as easy as pie to make ! Disadvantages: Youll be forever asked to make em once everyone knows you can !!
...used in one of the recipes I will give to you in a moment - the Korma.
I hate this stuff and so I steer well away from Kormas. Also coconut is actually very fattening and so this is not an ingredient to be used heavily by any dieters who are absorbing all of this information.
+ Cream
Again a high fat ingredient that is only used in the Korma recipe. ~~~~~~~~~
~~ The making of the base gravy ( the masala )
First off its important to ... ...couple of examples of the recipes I use to create the kinds of curries you can order everyday from the thousands of curry houses here in the UK.
Advantages: warming, filling, delicious Disadvantages: must be eaten by the next day
*There are many recipes available on-line for Cawl, all with some variations but here is my recipe, the way I have learned since I was little, for a traditional Welsh stew, with Lamb and Leek.
#You need:
A large stewing saucepan or large "Pyrex" dish that can be heated on a stove. (Preferably with a lid but it's not essential)
A ladle. A scooper with holes. A large spoon to stir.
Gas or electric hob (or Arga) - doesn't matter!
A meat ... ...smaller pot for boiling potatoes.
#Ingredients:
1 small Swede.
2 or 3 decent sized Carrots.
1 small Parsnip.
1 medium Onion.
3 large Leeks. (or several Baby Leeks- the taste being sweeter)
1 lamb Stock Cube - "Knorr" is fine.
Potatoes - I use "White" as they are versatile.
Water.
Small sprig of mint.
Fresh parsley.
A tiny sprinkle of Rosemary.
A tiny sprinkle of salt.
Thickening granules (or a tiny bit of flour).
A small spoon of oil ...
Advantages: Delicious Disadvantages: If you don't like truffle
...Today I want to offer you a particular recipe...
It is a maincourse and to be more precise it is a risotto... MY risotto.
This preparation draws on recipes which come from different Italian regions and it mixes flavours that seem to be incompatible to most of people.
In my behalf I can only recommend you to try it considering that people who made it didn't regret of (to be honest there aren't many people who tasted it but... let me dream to
be good at cooking... eh eh eh)
♥ INGREDIENTS for 2 people ♥
· 250 gr of rice (the best one is Carnaroli rice, if you want Arborio rice, not recommended Parboiled rice *)
· 300 gr of fresh sweet pork sausage
· 1 not too big blond onion
· 1 liter of stock (I recommend beef stock, if you haven't you can use bouillon cube)
· 1 glass of dry white wine...
Advantages: Lots of comfort food Disadvantages: my bathroom scales won't thank me for most of it.........
...don't like fatty spag bol or lasagne and I like carbonara done properly!
Will be very happy to share my recipes for these if someone can tell me how you can list more than one recipe for a maincourse please?
7) Beef with Spring Onion and Ginger in an Oyster Sauce (with Egg Fried Rice)
This has become my favourite from the chinese take away near my parents and although it has a horrendous calorie and fat content (nearly a full daily recommended calorie intake) its lovely (my bathroom scales thank me for not visiting my parents too often). It has to be slices of fresh ginger though not the canned stuff or powdered and no onion!
I don't like it when take aways pad meals out with cheap vegetables like carrots or onion and you have to play hunt the beef (or chicken, pork, prawns or whatever it is you're having!). Thankfully...
..., crack the egg into another dish, beat it, add a dash of milk and pour this over the pasta dish (if you are cooking for more than 2 people, use more than 1 egg). The egg will bind the macaroni as it cooks. Then cook in a hot oven (about 200 F) until the egg has set - it's good to use a see through Pyrex dish.
If you are a meat eater and can't cope with eating this, the Danes would cook this with a chopped up hot dog sausage within the layers of macaroni (or it may just have been my nan's way of cooking it, who knows!)
I hope you enjoy both these pasta dishes - they don't take that long to prepare and I think taste wonderful, good for mid week cooking!
Janet
PS I've already posted a recipe for MainCourses, which is why this is posted here....
