Recuva software

For a few years already we have wonderful software for our computer that is extremely helpful to restore deleted files. Probably everyone has had those horrible moments when You accidentally delete something, something disconnects and You lose information, forget to paste something… A few years ago my boyfriend deleted the wrong file with pictures… Was almost ready to kill him… but first searched internet and found a program Recuva that helped us!

WHAT IS IT?

Recuva is a software that can recover files that were deleted from a computer, Recycle Bin, digital camera card, USB or even MP3 player.
Use this software:
- Undelete files on your computer,
- Recovery from damaged or formatted disks,
- Recover deleted emails,
- Recover deleted iPod music,
- Restore unsaved Word documents.

PRICE

On Piriform.com website Recuva is advertised like FREE to download. But when You start downloading You are asked to help support the software… In pounds that “support” would cost You £20. Well I don’t expect to get a good program for free but when it is advertised FREE and they have set a “support fee” that sounds a bit of absurd…

Though from some websites You may get it for free or for a much smaller “support” fee than £20. For example on Amazon.co.uk Recuva software is offered for £2.49.

MY EXPERIENCE

Downloading:
This software is easy to download. You just have to follow step by step guide.

Using:
When You need to recover a file, You open Recuva Wizard and have to choose:
- the sort of files You want to recover (Pictures, Music, Documents, Video or Other when all files will be displayed);
- file location (I’m not sure – search will be done everywhere on computer; On my media card or iPod; in My documents; In the Recycle Bin; In a specific location).
Then the scan starts.
If the first scan fails to find anything You may choose to run a deep scan. There’s a warning that this may take over an hour on a large drive.
When the scan ends there’s a list of files (some with thumbnails) displayed. Then You simply mark the ones You need restored and choose location where to restore.

Results:
The main thing why I LOVE Recuva – all files that we have deleted by mistake, we successfully restored!!!

Well the first time when I was trying to restore our pictures was the most stressful. Because I didn’t actually know if Recuva is gonna work or not. But the program was very easy to use. You don’t have to be an IT specialist to use it. You just have to know what You want to find.

Sometimes scan results are displayed quickly, sometimes it takes a while. It depends what software You are scanning, how deeply the results are buried. But I assure You it was worth to wait every time!

I had to restore pictures a few more times until today, also some Word documents. I scanned hard disc, digital camera’s card, USB, external hard drive. Every scan gave results. And every time I was relieved as no files or pictures were lost.

Actually now, when we have Recuva, we are more relaxed and sometimes too quickly delete files that we don’t need (of course only after deleting them we realize how important they are) because deep inside we know that we can save those files!

The only thing I am not sure about – for how long a deleted file stays recoverable. We usually used Recuva the same day or after a few days after deleting something. Well I have just checked our USB. I got a long list of films that were copied into it since 2008. The last one and only a few old ones were marked as possible to be restored. Others were stated as unrecoverable. So, if a file is fully overwritten, You probably won’t be able to restore it.

Anyway, I think it is worth to try this software because maybe it will help You as it helped us! You should have seen me when I managed to restore pictures the first time. I felt so happy and proud of myself. Because I used to think that if something was deleted, it is lost….

OVERALL

I definitely recommend Recuva software for everyone who uses a computer. Because everyone sometimes makes mistakes and this program may be very useful. My experience proves it!

It’s up to You to get it “Free” from Pririform.com website or get it another way… Though those £20 isn’t much comparing with what You get. I think it’s a great investment as You’ll probably use it all Your life!
