Review of "Red Bull Can Energy Drink"
Bored environmental studies graduate. Interested in brand and corporate roles in environemntal issues.
Red Bull has had a massive impact on the energy drink market.
Its branding and marketing structure has enabled it to find a place in the bar, cafe
and subsequently cocktail culture of Europe.
Its value has not gone unnoticed by advertisers in the sponsorship of Red Bull Racing.
The only problem in its acceptance in the market is its price. I used to spend £1.50 on a small can regularly. Cocktail mixtures were highly popular in bars. Nevertheless these could be pricey, depending on where you drank. The local used to have a barrel on tap. It seems to me despite the heavy marketing of the drink it has declined in popularity. 4 packs of Red Bull were regular staple offers at supermarkets for years.Red Bull seems to have diminished in popularity since it initial impact on the market.
I wonder if there has been a general recession in energy drink popularity. A whole range of them seemed to compete fro space for a while, Monster and various other multicoloured products. I have to admit I tried out as many as I could for many years. Possibly general health and safety plus media campaigns have lowered their popularity.
Red Bull targeted an extremely high sporting consumer base in their advertising. This may well have lost other to other interests in the world of sport. The long term affects of the marketing strategy have not yet been recognised. Motor racing v football or tennis is a high risk agenda. Red Bull is one of the products Eu v British Exit from EU pundits could watch for future developments.
