Huge and opulent Australian Shiraz
Advantages: Luxurious taste, Good for special occassion, nice classy label Disadvantages: Expensive !
Sometimes I crave a rich and hugely flavoured red wine to wash me away on a luxurious wave of pleasure. One of my favourite ways of doing this is to treat my expectant palate to a bottle of Penfold’s Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz from South Australia. Penfold’s are a very well known Australian wine maker who produce a full range of wines from the moderately priced (the Rawson’s Retreat range at around £4-5 for example) to the monstrously expensive which ... ...Shiraz that retails for well over £100. Fortunately the Bin 28 is priced considerably lower at the £10-11 mark. This makes it in my opinion a special occasion or treat wine rather than a casual everyday glugger. It also tends to be widely available and I have seen it in Tesco, the Co-op and Somerfield.
The wine that I drank was from the very 2002 vintage but I can confirm that while visiting a wine tasting event that the 2003 is pretty damn fine ...

An Aussie wine worth a try
Advantages: cheap, a good young wine, flavour Disadvantages: none
...this:
Name of Wine: Penfolds Koonunga Hill Brand: Penfolds, Australia. Location: It is located at South Australia, near Adelaide, slightly north east of Adelaide, and specifically, in Barrosa Valley. Price: A bottle will cost you about 4.50 to 5.50GBP. A bulk quantity would be cheaper. I find the price fairly reasonable compared to many other Aussie wines. I also find it a much better deal compared to the Penfolds Ruby Cabernet (which I have done ... ...on the body, stating ‘ Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, and the vintage year’ There are a few more lines of sentences in small fonts and I can’t really remember what is it. Type: Red Wine (I’m sorry xara, it isn’t white) Contents: the wine has a 14% Alc.Vol and a 750ml capacity. Other vintages might have a 13.5% Alc.Vol. The wine is mostly made up of cabernet sauvignon, and the syrah grape. The cabernet gives the wine the tannins and most ...

Banrock Station Shiraz Mataro - South Eastern Australia Bottle: 2009 75cl 13.5% This Australian Red is currently available from Tesco £34.14 per case of 6 Equivalent to £5.69 per bottle I found it from Ocado for 12 Banrock Station Shiraz/Mataro, SE Australia £35.91 advertised as a price match. I think they have mixed up 6 bottles v 12 bottles. His wine is also “Help the Earth” so a contribution goes to save the planet in supporting environmental projects around the world, admirable and another reason to justify me buying it.
What’s it like?
Full of fruit, good flavour balance and that Aussie smooth softness, which is so delicious, then the spice and pepper, this is delicious. Well I don’t know how long ...

great red...says it all about Casillero del Diablo
Advantages: yum..yum..yum smooth, not heavy red wine to tickle those taste buds Disadvantages: can be pricey
Now..I'm not one for fine words and all that nonsey wine talk so I'll tell you straight. I tried this red wine a few years ago, as I wanted a change to my usual white wine and being the winter wanted something to warm me on the chilly evenings. I wondered into my local wine shop and was recommended by the helpful assistant to try this one. I've be buying it from then on. Its not too heavy as I have found some red wines can give me a headache after ... ...damn drinkable!! For those of you who are not red wine fans but fancy dipping your toe in..give this one a try, you won't regret it! I have taken abottle of this to many friends houses and they have like it so they now buy it and the word is still spreading. So go on, treat yourself and curl up and enjoy!! ...

The perfect red?
Advantages: Excellent quality, great price Disadvantages: can't think of any
...recommend that everyone who loves wine should try a bottle. I really do not know how they do it, but tesco must have a very good wine buyer. They seem to be able to provide us with good quality wine for a very keen price. And long may it continue!!! ...
