Redemption Song: The Definitive Biography of Joe Strummer - Chris Salewicz

Advantages: Chris moyles book is full of humour and events that have taken part in his life, worth a read and a good purchase
Disadvantages: To much information on irevelant areas would like to have known more about the man himself.

...Chris moyles biography is far different from many of the other biographies on sale. Its a more honest and laid back approach on how he arrived where he is today. Chris doesnt really mention his family to much, Shame would be nice to know more about the man himself...... A lot of biographies i have read generally discribes their family lifes and how tough they had it on there way to stardom. This approach is different and from this I found chris's book hard to put down. I have never listened to his radio spot in the morning but from reading his book and the way he discribes how the team arrived together it does make you fill that you know each one individually. Advantages: Objective, warts-and-all story of Abba and their manager as a group and individuals
Disadvantages: Too little about the actual music

...by such alternative icons as Sid Vicious, Joe Strummer and Kurt Cobain? And don't forget 'SOS', surely high on everyone's list of Abba favourites. Glen Matlock admits to plagiarizing the riff for 'Pretty Vacant', while Pete Townshend once informed a gobsmacked Björn to his face that 'SOS' was 'the best pop song ever written'. If you've never cared for a single Abba record, and couldn't care less about them as four individuals, you won't have read this far, will you? Otherwise, you will find this a thumping good book. You've heard the hits - now read about the people behind them. Assuming it sells well, as titles in this Omnibus Press series generally do, expect a paperback in a year's time. ...As a couple they wowed the world, separately they still managed to forge successful careers. "Simon and Garfunkel: The Definitive Biography" by Victoria Kingston is an in-depth look at the partnership which began as a childhood friendship in the 40s and developed into a musical collaboration which reached its apex in the late 60s. Through interviews with the two men themselves and many of their friends a unique portrait is drawn of their personal lives including their failed marriages, relationship to each other and their approach to music. It was fascinating to read of the stories behind the composing of some of their most famous songs such as Mrs Robinson, Sounds of Silence etc. In fact there is in-depth analysis of each album, which may perhaps limit the book's appeal to fans of Simon and Garfunkel.
