I first discovered Redken products about 10 years back when I was still a hairdresser. These products are only available through a Redken appointed hair salon and to this day I have never had a real gripe about any of the products I’ve tried.
In the past couple of years the Redken range of hair care products has had a bit of a revamp – the packaging is brighter and the range seems much easier to understand – there’s a range for your hair type which you then tailor your product choice to suit your needs. Now anyone who has followed my hair care saga will know that I’ve had problems finding a high street conditioner that works well I’ve given up! Redken’s ALL SOFT range has been designed to soften dry, unmanagble, coarse hair. That’s me! Each product contains Avocado Oil which helps to smooth, de-frizz and detangle.
The ALL SOFT range consists of shampoo, conditioner and a treatment. Within this opinion I’m going to talk about the new product within the range ‘HEAVY CREAM’. Last week I was close to tears, my much complimented hair was in knots, the conditioner I was using just wasn’t doing its job and my locks were suffering. I contemplated a drastic haircut but it’s taken me so long to grow I decided to go back to my professional salon products in the quest to save my barnet! I trust Redken products and knew that at £14 for a 250ml tub that this stuff would do the trick. Redken salons are quite wide spread but should you have trouble locating one the salons within all ‘House Of Fraser’ department stores always stock them. The salons which stock the products will have a knowledge of the product so if in doubt all you have to do is ask!
So £14 poorer I head home to try and work a miracle. I shampoo my hair as normal and I must add at this point my hair is matted – no chance of getting my hands through it! I open the jar to see a thick, white cream which smells rather similar to many a hair product – nothing special but not offensive either. The tub is large enough to get your hands in to and I take a moderate amount from the tub and start working it through my hair. Instantly I can feel my hair lapping this stuff up… I expect to need loads but I use a rather small, moderate amount finding that it spreads and works in to the hair with ease.
The jar recommends leaving for around 5 to 15 minutes dependent on how dry your locks are – I opt for the 15 minute option. Before rinsing I use a wide toothed comb to separate my hair and to my astonishment my hair is no longer matted. After rinsing (again the product rinses with ease) my hair looks pretty much back to normal with each curl looking individual rather than frizzy.
So there you have it – a happy Mizzame! At £14 many of you will be scoffing – it’s around 10 times more expensive than your normal conditioner but then it works incredibly well, restores your hair to a decent state and you really don’t need much at all. I’ll use this as a weekly treatment rather than daily conditioner and expect the tub to last me a number of months.
One down fall is that the tub is rather bulky which although allows you to really get your hands the tub will be a bit of a pest if travelling. The old treatment in this range came in a tube which was much more travel friendly and the conditioner came out of the tube equally as well as from the tub.
Whatever your hair type I’d recommend Redken products. If you, like me have coarse dry hair the ALL SOFT range is certainly the one for you. I have tried the shampoo which is fabulous too as are some of Redken’s styling products.
File under ‘Remarkable’.

oh my god! manna from heaven, I have very dry, curly but more frizzy than anything long hair, and I have been looking for a product to de frizz it for years and years and years, so maybe I am getting over excited as I have only read your review and not tried the product, but I am going to try the product, so thanks very much for the review. Nobody I know, knows what I go through with my hair so its nice to feel something in common with another person for once! cheers

I keep promising myself that I will try out some salon products (Redken and Kerastase are the ones that have been most recommended to me!) but I am worried about the "no going back" syndrome and subsequent bankruptcy! Hannah
