MY REDKEN EXPERIENCE I have been using Redken products for over 10 years now and have not bought any other brand since I first discovered it. This all started when a hairdresser refused to perm my hair because, according to a strand test, it seriously lacked protein and moisture. At the time, I was heartbroken - for months I had been saving up and looking forward to my dream perm. However, this hairdresser told me that if I used the Redken Extreme range of shampoo and conditioner for a month, and used the Extreme protein treatment once a week, my hair should then be in good enough condition for a perm.
At the time, the price of all this nearly knocked me over. But I took this advice, returned for my strand
test a month later and got my perm!
REDKEN VERSUS SUPERMARKET BRANDS The above experience completely changed my attitude towards hair products in general. When I look back, I used to chop and change on almost every purchase of shampoo and conditioner. I thought the extras such as intensive conditioning treatments were a waste of money - but I had never tried them. The bathroom cupboard was a mess - full of part used bottles of cheap supermarket hair products I had rejected and had put up for 'adoption' by another family member.
As for the price of changing to Redken, knowing how much money I have wasted not using the cheaper brands I have bought in the past, in the long term I have saved myself a fortune. They say money cannot buy you happiness but now I am happy with my hair - I really used to hate it.
Another word about the price of Redken in general, I find that I only need a small amount of any product from this brand to get what I want from it. So I do not need to buy it so often.
REDKEN ALL SOFT HEAVY CREAM Product Claims: "... Heavy Cream Super Treatment is a rich, moisturizing cream that intensely softens dry, brittle or coarse hair. Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers proteins, amino acids and avocado oil to help provide extra softness, conditioning and frizz control."
MY REASONS FOR CHOOSING REDKEN ALL SOFT HEAVY CREAM These days, I do not have a perm. But my hair is long, fine, dry, brittle and slightly wavy. There is also a lot of it. It's the sort of hair that if washed with the cheaper products I used before, becomes a mass of tangled ends that takes ages to comb through - with unavoidable breakage on the way. If this went on nowadays, my long hair days would have tearfully ended.
Over the past couple of years, my hair has been subjected to further difficulties - environmental stress. My workplace, a shop selling tropical fish, is hot and humid. A day in there could be compared to being outside in fine drizzle. If your hair is at all like mine, you will know the consequences. Your style is ruined - it is no longer sleek, but is masked by a halo of frizz. Brushing or combing it is useless - it just brings a new set of frizzy, brittle ends to the surface and makes it look even worse.
There are two possible solutions here. The first is to wash and style it (again!), exposing it to more damaging heat from the hairdryer and/or other styling appliances. The second is to make sure it doesn't happen in the first place and start using Redken All Soft Heavy Cream.
USING REDKEN ALL SOFT HEAVY CREAM The product itself comes in a 250ml tub with a screw lid and it's large enough to get your hand in and scoop out a dollop. Heavy Cream is thick enough to not fall through your fingers so you shouldn't lose it down the plughole. Because it's in a tub, it's 'short' enough to fit between the closely fitted shelves in my bathroom cupboard and is considerably stable - i.e. hard to knock over! I also find that I can get every last drop from the tub - when it's in a tube, like many such products are, there is always some wastage at the end.
It fits well into my lifestyle too. I just wash my hair, apply Heavy Cream, wrap it up in a towel then surf the internet or watch TV for 15 minutes before rinsing out. I have no complaints about the smell either - it's like an exotic fruit cocktail.
Combing out my hair after using this product is effortless, there are no tangles and therefore no breakage. It always feels smooth, silky and unbelievably soft. When it's dry, the benefits are still there - softness, ease of styling and definitely no frizz for at least a week.
It's also a bonus to receive compliments from my hairdresser about the good condition of my hair.
