My hairdresser, Jermaine, is a tactful soul. The last time he sheared and highlighted me, he casually asked what type of shampoo and conditioner I was using and went on to suggest I might consider trying Kerastase or Redken. I am a bit of a slouch when it comes to my tresses and don?t often go in for lots of conditioning and such and, although I have made occasional sorties into the land of posh hair preparations, I usually stick to the more affordable alternatives. But this was obviously Jermaine?s way of telling me that my hair not in the best of shape and, as I was so pleased with his last recommendation for Tigi Small Talk (as previously reviewed) I decided to spend a few precious pennies on some more upmarket potions.
REDKEN ? The Brand
I went for Redken because the name amused me. I guess I am still a political animal ...

In the winter my hair takes on a life of its own, and becomes tangled, frizzy and unmanageable so last year I decided to take the bull by the horns and do something about it. This lead me to buy Redken Smooth Down for, wait for it, £7.99 for a what seemed very small bottle that really contained 150ml of the shampoo. Anything would be worth that price to look better than a mad old lady again at Christmas I told myself to justify the expenditure.
The bottle is a deep red in colour and easily identified looking like nothing else on the shelf in the supermarket. The bottle claims that continued use of the shampoo will help straighten my hair and give it body, strengthen the shaft and a look that is would be a complete transformation. Dubious to say the least, but hell, I had bought it and the proof was in the tasting of the pudding as it ...
I have recently tried this shampoo for the first time and love it. Really fresh & fruity smell and leaves my hair soft and managable. I have used other shampoos in this range but have found this to be by far my favourite. Maybe it soesn't quite off the straightning effect that it states on the bottle, but it definitely controls my hair to an extent - and there are other products on the market to do this than shampoos anyway!
In my opinion, this not only cleans hair thoroughly but leaves it smelling fresh and clean for well over a day after washing, especially when used in conjuntion with the Control Freak Conditioner in this range.
The packaging is durable and easy to use, although it can be hard to get the last few drops out due to the nozzle style. Looks nice in your bathroom though, with a funky green colour. ...
