If anyone has read my previous reviews then they will realise how much I spend on hair products to tame my frizz!
Well I have found a new and great range of products by redken.
I usually use some of redkens hair products to help straighten my hair (see previous reviews) I recently fancied trying some new shampoo and conditioner, as i'm a firm believer that your hair can get used to products therefore it being a good idea to alternate them.
So I looked around at redken shampoo's as conditioners as I reguarly use their styling products which are great. I came across their smooth down range, which redken states,

so I thought this sounds like something I need, I'll give it ago.
Well how shocked was I!!!!!!!!!!!
When I got the bottles home I had a quick sniff and they smelt gorgeous! so i couldn't wait to wash my hair.
So what did I think?
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!!
The shampoo and conditioner both smelt great, the shampoo really worked it's way into my hair, and i only used a small amount, plus i didn't have to do a second wash. my hair washed easy and didn't become notty or tangled. I then tried the conditioner, just as impressive, i left it on for 5 mins then washed it off, my hair felt soft, smooth and no tangles, i didn't even have to brush my hair through.
my hair seemed to dry quicker, plus my straightners ran through my hair so easily taking less time than normal. I couldn't help thinking to myself, this will only last a short while until my hair gets used to the product, but know 4 months on my hair still looks great, its in great condition, i hardly have any split ends and people are always commiting how great my hair smells.
So for me its a winner! I really would recommend this to anyone who has similar hair to mine. Plus the bottles last ages around 3 months if you wash your hair 3 times a week.

Advantages: Widely available, helps straighten fizzy hair Disadvantages: Expensive, lots of shampoo needed every wash, irritates scalp, dries hair out and makes it feel brittle
...This lead me to buy Redken Smooth Down for, wait for it, £7.99 for a what seemed very small bottle that really contained 150ml of the shampoo. Anything would be worth that price to look better than a mad old lady again at Christmas I told myself to justify the expenditure.
The bottle is a deep red in colour and easily identified looking like nothing else on the shelf in the supermarket. The bottle claims that continued use of the shampoo will help ... ...After a week of using Redken the bottle was empty and the results were awful. My scalp was really irritable and it looked dry and brittle, I had lost any gloss that my hair had previously had and I was a very sad bunny.
I would never use this again as long as I live. It is overpriced and apart from stopping my hair frizzing it did nothing but make my hair look older, more damaged and a state! ...

...and needs something different. This Redken shampoo was different. Let me explain about my hair - I guess alot depends on that! I've got long straight red hair. If I put anything heavy on it it tends to weigh it down and then looks dull. I bought the smaller size of this shampoo first just to test it - it smells really nice, produces lots of bubbles (which I like because it feels like it's really cleaning your hair), washes out nicely. My hair is ... ...it looks really shiny :) I then bought a huge bottel of it - which was quite expensive ~£24 but has lasted for AGES!! I still have half left and I've been using it for 4 months now!! Would def recommend it - even my hairdresser commented and was disappointed that it wasn't his own brand!! ...

I bought this shampoo and conditioner as I was desperate for something to tame my dry and frizzy hair. It was expensive, but I thought well I could at least try it. I paid £22 for the shampoo and the conditioner and couldn't wait for the transformation. Boy was I dissapointed. My hair became even drier, and no, I didn't use too much shampoo. I did exactly what it said on the tin. The conditioner had the same effect. And my hair also became very unmanageable. ... ...different conditioner and the conditioner with a different shampoo to try and see which bottle it was that was causing the trouble. They both caused the same problem.
My report is similar to another one on here. I just wish I hadn't wasted my money. The bottles are sitting there now, never to be used again, but as they were so expensive I am loath to just throw them away. I won't be buying them again. ...

I have very blonde firzzy hair and have tried all sorts of products that are supposed to tame and make my hair sleek and shiny. This was the first to do exactly what it says. This is not one of the cheapest shampoos on the market and therefore I tend to use it when I want nice sleeky hair or when I am going out. The texture of the shampoo is slightly unusual as it feels more like an oil than a shampoo but it lathers and cleans my hair very well, ...
