Two years ago, I spoke to my doctor about taking diet pills. I had become very depressed about my weight and despite going to the gym and trying to eat healthier, my weight was not shifting. My doctor took my weight and said she would prescribe me some pills if I came back in 1 month and lost some weight. I did lose a little weight so she prescribed me a two month supply and said she would weight me again after that. The doctor also warned me about that some people get depressed when taking the pills and I needed to eat sensibly.
I had to take one pill a day. The pills were very effective and in the evenings I did not feel hungry at all. I lost 1 and a half stones in the 3/4 months that I was taking it. Everyone at work noticed and was commenting on how great I looked. Even complete strangers in the building at work was commenting on how great I looked. I never noticed them but they had seen me walkiing past every day. They assumed that I had lost a lot of weight from going to the gym. I became more confident and felt great.
The downside was that I had very bad headaches which sometimes stopped me from going to the gym after work. The headaches were random and one day I could be fine, but the next day they would start, usually late afternoon at work. Another problem was that these pills made me feel moody and emotional. I could start crying over something stupid at work or would even snap at a colleague for no reason. This was an occasional thing though and did not happen every day.
I stopped taking the pills after four months because I didn't feel I needed them any more. But slowly the weight has piled on. I am now going to the gym more and trying to control the diet but nothing is as effective as the pills. However, I am glad that I do not have to put up with the headaches anymore.
I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling with their weight but please be aware of the side affects. I would also suggest you see your doctor first and make sure they monitor your progress. I had to see a dietician and doctor regularly. You are also likely to put the weight back on if you stop taking them.
