I was looking around my local ASDA for something different to try instead of my usual Bacardi and Coke. There were a few options that I fancied and shall no doubt try at another date but this time I chose Reef.

The bottle containing this mix is small but holds a decent punch for what is essentially an alcopop. There are 275 ml in the bottle and the clear glass lets you get a good view of the drink on offer.

Through the bottle I could see the dark orange coloured drink, which was very slightly cloudy which gave me the impression that the orange was fresh. The drink is advertised as an orange and passion fruit mix and at about £1.19 a bottle is reasonable value on the face of it.

Unlike some other alcopops this is a still drink which suited me just fine since I have found of late that carbonated drinks are the foodstuffs that are causing me some gastric problems. Not serious or anything more annoying discomfort.

After an overnight stay in the fridge it was time for me to sample the wares within...........................I can't stand warm drinks unless they contain coffee and are supplied with a large cake of the cream variety. I poured most of the bottle into a glass and decided to add 2 ice cubes since I much prefer my orange drinks very very cold. The first taste was a bit of a surprise since I could hardly distinguish the passion fruit it was pumping full of tangy orange though. After a few more mouthfuls the passion fruit did begin to show face and in fact become more prominent. The drink was very refreshing indeed which was something I was not completely expecting either. The sweetness of the drink may perhaps be its downfall since although overall I really enjoyed it it was a teenie weenie bit too sweet even for my sweet tooth.

After finishing the bottle I had concluded that the drink had far more ups than downs in fact it only had one down it was too sweet. My £1.19 had indeed been well spent and should I happen to come over another amount of the same sum I shall seriously consider purchasing another Reef.

They can be purchased as single bottles and various flavours. Their is also the option of purchasing multi packs which reduces the cost quite considerably. I cannot comment on the quality of the other flavours since I have not tried them yet, but the orange one is definitely worth a try if you like something slightly different.
