Training To Be A Reflexologist

Advantages: Meeting people, rewarding
Disadvantages: Hard to start a practise

I have spent much of my working life in advertising but six years ago I decided to get out of the rat race and train to do something completely different. A holistic therapies course at our local college seemed to fit the bill. It was a year long course including physiology, anatomy, aromatherapy and reflexology. The whole course was interesting but I soon realised that I had a talent for reflexology and that I loved doing it. To be a professional reflexologist you need to take a properly accredited course because, without that, you will not be able to get insurance to practise. There are no laws as such (at present) that stop you practising without qualifications, but without the protection of insurance, you may be storing up trouble for yourself if there was ever a claim against you. Quick six week courses are not sufficient ...

This Little Piggy went to Market

Advantages: Helps to relax the body and mind.
Disadvantages: This therapy is not right for everyone.

Ever heard people say, ‘your feet show the agony on your face’? In my experience this is very true. Remember the Nursery Rhyme ‘This little piggy went to market…’? I love this and the actions that went with it as a child, but did you know that the rotating motion of the baby’s toes helps to gently relax the child. Originating in China around 4000 years ago, Reflexology is a wonderful relaxing form of massage to relax you in the hustle and bustle of today’s modern world. Reflexology is not just a pampering tool, but a healing therapy too. A Reflexology Therapist makes a series of pressure movements on the feet with his/her hands. These movements release toxins, helping to improve circulation, gland ...

The Reflexology Handbook

Advantages: Clear diagrams, packed with info, good 4 all levels
Disadvantages: A lack of colour

I have been working as a Holistic Therapist for three years now and frequently refer to this book for information. I have practiced Reflexology many, many times on people of all types and I am constantly amazed by the results of this fascinating therapy. It is thanks to the clear and complete explanations within this book that I have been so successful. I practice several therapies but from a technical point of view Reflexology is my favourite. The technical detail is very clear and well explained in this book and will not be to advanced for beginners or laking for the more advanced. I have looked at other Reflexology books but this one beats them all on information content. The Reflexology Handbook may look a touch mono-tone because the authors have used pen drawing diagrams to demonstrate the correct reflex point stimulating ...
