Fenwick is a very famous Newcastle based department store, situated on Northumberland Street in the heart of the city centre. It's very easy to get to, with great transport links, and it's famous green logo can be spotted a mile away! There are lifts or escalators to all floors, and the salon is on the 3rd floor, next to a lovely terrace café/restaurant and the children's toy section.
When I arrived I was greeted by very polite staff, who were dressed smartly in black. Despite me being 5 minutes late I was still accommodated and after a couple of minutes seated in the waiting area, which had lovely cubed leather seating, I was show through to a treatment room. The room was quite small, with a sink and bench at one end, a massage bed and 2 chairs. The walls of the room were sage green and complemented the fluffy, soft, crimson and white towels. The lights were dim and gentle and the air temperature was cool but not cold - it was a very hot day with temperatures soaring outside, so it was rather lovely to be cool! The floor was marble, and there was gentle pan-pipe music playing. It was all super-relaxing!
While the therapist got me my first complementary coffee of the morning I had a lovely foot soak in a warm, vibrating, scented footbath. Dreamy!!
The pedicure was my first treatment, and the only negative for me was that I had to put my feet up onto the therapists knees (I was sitting opposite her), which for me was a bit of a strain on the old leg muscles. However, I'm sure if I'd thought to ask, she would have let me lie on the bed. It was still incredibly relaxing, and while the therapist made gentle conversation, there wasn't the pressure to talk that you sometimes get in salons.
So my toenails were trimmed, filed, shaped and polished with a pretty baby-doll pink polish - all shiny and lovely! They looked as good as they felt!
When my toe nails were dry, I was led from the treatment room, through the salon to where the manicure desks were situated. Again, my nails were filed and shaped, the cuticles were pushed down, and a conditioning treatment applied to them. Two coats of the same pink polish later, and my fingernails looked fabulous!
When the therapist had finished, I was shown back over to the waiting area and given another coffee while I waited for a hair stylist to arrive. This took about ten minutes, but during this time the manager came over to apologise for my delay and ask if there was anything she could get me - very polite and customer centric, I felt. The leather seating was very squashy and comfortable, and the coffee was great, so the time just flew!
My hair stylist arrived, and after a brief consultation about how I wanted my hair to look, she began by washing my hair, massaging my scalp (lovely!) and applying a conditioning treatment. After it had been dried, she applied some sort of serum (which smelt amazing!) and styled my hair into loose, feminine curls and waves - just exactly the way I had wanted! It looked and felt fabulous, very shiny and in good condition. I was very pleased with the results!!!
COSTS
The pampering I had was a gift, but even if I'd had to pay, it was well worth it: individual costs for the treatments I received would have been:
Express Pedicure: £16.75 Express Manicure: £12.75 Shampoo and Finish: £16.00
My overall opinion of this salon was a good one, and I've since been back to have my hair cut and styled and was over the moon with the results! For £32.00 I had my hair washed, cut and styled by a lovely lady called Maria, and I was ever so pleased with how I looked afterwards. She really listened to what I wanted, and checked lengths and things throughout. I had quite long hair, so it was a big change for me, and she made me feel totally relaxed and confident about the change. I still love my "new" hairdo weeks later and will certainly be going back before christmas to get a trim and pamper for the Festive period!

Advantages: Talented staff Disadvantages: Price and lack of service
Regis hairdressers always seemed a little to pricey and posh for my liking (yes, things can be too posh, even for me) but one Christmas I was given a bit of money, and with nothing much that I wanted to buy for once, I thought I’d spend some of it on a morning at the hairdressers. I went the day before a job interview and wanted to look respectable for it. I booked 3 or 4 weeks before the appointment and was given a free range of times to suit ... ...better to do. Regis is a nationwide chain of salons (to find your nearest one ring 02476 840 300). They have stand alone places and concessionary status within certain larger department stores too. My local branch is on the Mezzanine level of one such store, and offers interesting views of the tops of shopping customer’s heads. Climbing the spiral staircase I found myself in their tiny reception area. The stylist checked me off and since I ...

Advantages: Nice hair cut, good stylist, pleasant surroundings Disadvantages: Very expensive, no conversation
...and booked an appointment with Regis – the hair salon in House of Fraser in Bristol. I have been there twice before and although it is expensive, I have always been very happy with the service and felt it was a nice treat and a good pick-me-up. As I have been ill for 3 weeks now with a bad throat and chest infection, it sounded a good idea all round.
It started off well. I was greeted with a nice smile, had my coat taken to be hung up and I was ... ...is spacious and clean. The Regis products are good ones and ones I am happy to use and yes, I was pleased with my cut – although my family said they couldn’t tell much difference! But a salon looking nice is not much good without it having the service to deliver. My experience at Regis today was like buying an expensive book with a beautiful cover, only to discover the story was rather weak. ADVANTAGES
I was pleased with my hair cut.

Advantages: Fantastic results, very knowledgable staff, open 7 days a week. Disadvantages: Expensive (but worth it)!
I starting using Regis salons only recently, however am thrilled with the excellent service I have received. I suffer from Crohn's disease and due to a combination of ill health and the side effects of immunosuppressant medication my hair had thinned considerably. Following this I decided to go for hair extensions, to add volume and found Regis in Chester was one of the only places in my area to offer them. As I arrived I got the impression the salon ... ...every member of staff in the salon does go to great lengths to assure they are as warm and helpful as possible and that clients leave satisfied. I will certainly continue to go to Regis and my sister is also getting her hair cut there for the first time tomorrow! ...

...complaints.
i went to Regis today in Colchester, I have decided to have my hair shorter ( to my neck) but still curly. Took some pictures. The lady said instead of this what about a straight bob and use straightners. no i want it like the pictures and how I discribe it. she says I will get some magazines and have a look at pictures, all of which were dead straight, blunt cuts. no I do not want that sort of style and picked a picture similar to the ... ...book and said lets wash your hair.
I thought....she has finally got the message.
Hair washed
Time to start cutting, she suggests putting some whispy layers in to make it thicker....ok.
She finishes cutting and starts drying, I think this is not turning out like I asked. Waht I did not know was her version of whispy layers is not the ones I have experianced in the past. she has layered it all the way up. then she swiches on the straightners!

Advantages: Good quality cut, listened, polite Disadvantages: Salon bit cramped
...review only relates to the Regis salon in Leicester that is based within the main Shires shopping centre in the city centre. The review is also sort of unique in being written by a male as it seems most the reviewers of hairdressers seem to be female. SALON:
The salon is quite minimalist in style - plenty of chrome and white décor, although some might find it a bit cramped as they seem to have tried to fit as many chairs in as they can. The section ... ...salon is also quite cramped and some might find the very open-plan design a bit off-putting. However, the salon has always been clean and tidy on the occasions that I have been there, and any hair is regularly swept up. As in most salons, black is the colour that dominates staff clothing and some may find it intimidating that all the staff are young, trendy looking and clearly take time with their appearance. But, I have always found the staff to ...

shine somewhat with colouring it. After using this for about a month I have definitely noticed my hair has less split ends and is also a lot smoother to touch, it does not feel as dry at all and really does look healthier with the shine having been restored. My hair also has a lot more movement and body which has really made me a lot happier and just the general fact that the split ends are no longer as obvious makes this product worth the money.
Now, you can buy Redken Extreme Shampoo in all Redken salons but salon prices do tend to vary depending on what they charge. I buy mine from Regishairdressing stores which are located all over the UK and my shampoo cost me a steep £10.73 but I have nearly used it for a month and still have a very full bottle so in that case it hasn?t been too much of a loss as far as I?m concerned. Advantages: Works well, smells nice, easily available Disadvantages: Doesn't last long for the money
My hair is currently in quite a bad state. After dyeing it a variety of colours over the last five months or so, I had a bit of a lecture from my hairdresser when I went in January. She said some of my hair at the back was brittle and I needed to strengthen it, while resting it from the chemicals for a while.
Being terrified at the prospect of a bald spot (!), I bought some bottle of Regis’ own product that the hairdresser recommended. Well, she would, wouldn’t she? I paid over £5 for it, but I must admit, it was great stuff and really seemed to do the trick.
The bottle ran out a couple of weeks ago and as the salon is in town, I had to make do with something more local. I went to the pharmacy, explained about the condition of my hair and asked for the best product they had. I was advised to try the Aussie 3-Minute ...
