I went to Regis for the first time last September and won't be going back. I hadn't had a haircut for a while and wanted to get one before starting university.
A friend recommended Regis, so I tried to phone and book an appointment at the Metro Centre salon - but the phone was always engaged. A few days before I was due to leave, I got through first thing in the morning and was amazed to get an appointment later that day.
I'd had my ears pierced there a couple of years before this and the salon was exactly how I remembered - white, black and silver. Very clean and modern but slightly clinical looking. I was taken through to the waiting area in the back and after a few minutes the hairdresser came out. She hung my coat up then began washing my hair.
Now I have to say that my hair was very long at this point (I could sit on it), and I explained that I wanted it a fair bit shorter so I could wear it down. She said she wouldn't take a lot off in one go and that she would make the side fringe I had asked for quite long (to grow out quickly if I didn't like it).
That was all she said to me the whole time I was there, apart from "OK?" at the end. There was a very weird atmosphere, she resisted my attempts at conversation, didn't even speak to the other staff and I got the impression it was an inconvenience that she had been asked to cut my hair.
Overall, the haircut itself was fine - slightly longer than I asked for, but looked good and my hair was lovely and shiny for several days afterwards.
I can't remember exactly what I paid, I think it was £36 or thereabouts. I certainly don't think it was worth the money because as good as the haircut was, the atmosphere was awkward and unwelcoming.
But that's just my experience, I noticed one of the other customers having a great chat while her hair was being cut, so I think it depends completely on which member of staff you get. It's put me off though and I won't be going back.

Loved the review. As a customer of the above salon I have to say that everytime I go they do an exeptionally great job with my hair as I have very fine hair which is difficult to cut correctly. As for the service, last time I was in and out inside of half an hour including a coffee and the atmosphere was fine. I may be unusual but I actually can't stand going to a hairdresser who constantly chats about inane drivel such as "are you going out tonight, been on holiday yet, how many kids have you???? etc. etc." I just want to be in and out and looking good in the least possible amount of time so for me the lack of chat apart from the basic pleasantries is just what I am looking for! Out of all of the salons in the MetroCentre this one is the best by far (and yes I have tried all of the others with some really poor results) and I'll continue to go for as long as they style my hair as good as they have been.

Welcome, nice to meet you. Don't like hairdressers, I always find them unfriendly places. I think a lot of the trouble is that they have only so much time for each customer, thus no time for talking. Barbara xx

Welcome to Ciao! Wouldn't go in one anyway for that price, and certainly not if they're going to be rude. Lisa x
