TUNING UP WINDOWS 98
In order to avoid facing the problem above, every user must spend quite a lot of his or her time to maintain the operating system by using some utilities. One of the utilities I have ever used is System Mechanic (www.iolo.com), and I think this utility works well to solve the registry database problem.
However I need to share to you that actually we are able to maintain our Windows 98 by using the following ways.
1. We can use "scanreg" (comes with Windows) to maintain the registry
problem. Restart the PC then hold the "CTRL" key. At the prompt,
choose COMMAND PROMPT. At the command prompt, then type scan / opt .
2. In order to free up your memory, do not use the screen saver or
wallpaper. I am sure this way will help you much.
