Rehau Wall Mounted Automatic Hose Reel

Advantages: Ease of use,
Disadvantages: A little flimsy.

...I normally tend to write reviews on items I like, and recommend, but in this case I can't actually recommend these at all. The reason being, they do not last, being of steel construction, they rust very quicklly. The paint finish is poor, and the steel is not thick enough. They do tend to bend at the least provocation, and although the basic idea is sound, the materials are not good enough. The design was copied from Firefighting Hosereels, where the hose could be ran out very quickly, the reel swinging out toward the fire, and making it up again was a doddle.. I would like to see a better quality version of these, that really would be something. All fittings are made from corrosion resistant brass, and the reel is supposed to hold some eighty feet of hose! Advantages: Good bit of kit, simple, and effective.

...This review is on the hose mender by Rehau. You may think you don't need one of these, you may well be right of course. I thought so too, and having messed about in my garage for hours, using bits of copper pipe & Jubilee clips, I finally decided to get the proper kit. The Hose Mender itself is nothing special, it is simply a means of attaching one end of a hose pipe to another, in a short length. It does this very well, and although I have forgotten the price, it can't have been much more than a couple of Pounds. It was easy to do the job. and I have no regrets either, it is just a plastic fitting, nothing more, nothing less, and it is there to do a job, and it does that job very well indeed.
