Advantages: a nice warming storyline, great cast, good filming.
Disadvantages: Not the best film in the world, and not enough promotion!

But they don't plan on what then happens. When Penelope is refused marriage for a final time, she is fed up of life as she leads it, and runs away to have her independance. She has learned to live with the fact that the curse may never be broken. But there is so much to look forward to and go through, and a huge twist in the curse put upon the Wilhurn family that no man can break. My Opinion: This wasn't a film I was looking forward to seeing, it was never really advertised much when it was out at the cinema, and I only heard of it through my Film Studies class in college. Review of Penelope (DVD)

Penelope - Not Up To Scratch

Advantages: Can't think of any...
Disadvantages: Bland, inane dialogue, no character depth.

. Unfortunately for the journalist, the 'blue blood' falls for Penelope and refuses to take the picture - and just as unfortunately for Penelope, the only suitor she's ever had who actually has feelings for her isn't really a 'blue blood'. Realising that he isn't the 'blue blood' that Penelope needs in order to break the curse, and not wanting to make her life more difficult than it already is, Max decides to make himself scarce. Penelope, however, isn't aware of Max's true feelings for her, thinking that he was simply out to humiliate her by selling her picture to the journalist, and in a moment of rebellion, decides to run away and see for herself what the world has to offer. 'Penelope' had such potential... and it failed miserably. This modern-day fairytale storyline held such promise, and was destined to be as good a movie as 'Enchanted ...

Review of Penelope (DVD)

Beats, Rhymes, and Life - The Quest fails to Impress...

Advantages: GREAT Beats for the most part...
Disadvantages: ...MEDIOCRE Rhymes for the most part...

I went into Beats, Rhymes, and Life hoping that I wouldn't have to say that Midnight Marrauders and The Low End Theory are the only albums by A Tribe Called Quest that matter. I was really hoping that. Even though People's Instinctive Travels... got a 5 Mic rating in The Source, when I listened to it a couple of years ago I was not impressed by it's performance (like GSP) and reviewed it here on the site. I had this album lying around and decided to pop in it, hoping for some gems. Well there definitely were some, but they are few and far between and still not truly good enough songs to qualify them as gems. I can't really comment on the Tribe's final album, The Love Movement, because I've never heard it nor do I plan to anytime this calendar year. Today though, I'll take a quick look at Beats, Rhymes, and Life and share some thoughts ...
