My first purchase from Reiss was a "going out" top. Petrel Grey, lambswool with a hawk design, soft, lovely and well fitted. The price tag was an almighty £70. Now, The Blonde and I love our shopping. Her more than me, but she is a girl. Still, I like to think that I can hold my own in the shopping department and as such have finally got around to reviewing Reiss.

It irked me somewhat to realise that 3 weeks later, in the sales, it was reduced to £29. It was at that point that my wallet made me decide that Reiss would probably be better to shop at when they had their sales on...
It was in that very same sale however that I made my star purchase from Reiss. A b-e-a-u-tiful 3-piece dark grey suit, single breasted, 3 button, 3 button cuff detail, high bias cut from the shoulder with front-creased trousers. My heart sank when I looked at the price tag - £650. I'd paid £450 for a suit not 2 weeks before. Then - ELATION! the £650 has been crossed out, and in small red lettering the price of £325 had been written in the bottom corner of the ticket. Joy of Joys I thought, but being the cautious shopping and refusing to fall in love with the suit having tried it on and then suffering the heartbreak (Or adverse credit ratings) of having to put it back, or buying it anyway, I checked with the assistant. Yes, it was only £325.
I tried it on, the jacket was a tiny bit tight, but manageable. The trousers were a little bit long, but they could be adjusted for free by Reiss themselves. A great little service that I have taken advantage of a couple of times.
I was delighted. I left with a free suit carrier as well.
The staff were attentive without being pushy. Seeing me looking nervously around the suit an assistant came over to me and asked if I was ok. He then also had been trained to make the adjustments to the suit that I requested and discussed at great length the merits and differences between single and double breasted suits, the bias cut versus panel cut option and the correct length and hemming of the trousers to ensure that they sit correctly on the shoes.
The store in Leeds is beautful. Situated in the Victoria Arcade, in one of the larger units, it is slightly set apart by the Roman Style pillars outside and a couple of steps leading into the shop. The women's section is to your right, the men's section straight ahead. The fitting rooms are spacious and well hidden at the back of the shop; perfect for trying on large amounts of clothes.
The range of clothes itself is quite unique, moving away from the mass produced high street look, more into classic styles and colours that will last more than a season. Reiss also favour high quality materials that owe a lot to touch and feel, rather than distincive logo's. Overall, the clothes are extrmely high quality, the only downside being that they are often dry-clean only, otherwise even handwashing in cold water can cause them to lose shape and texture.
There are limited stores throughout the country, which, in my opinion is a good thing, since it prevents the potential move into the totally high street market.
I have never had to return anything to Reiss, although having seen customers returning things to the store, the process seems to be done efficiently and without fuss as long as the receipts are there, and in all cases the recipts are put into a reciept card and given to you, to prevent it being lost.
Due to it's nature, there aren't ever really any queues in store, or if there are more than 2 or 3 people at the till, there is someone there to make sure it goes a little quicker.
To be perfectly honest, I couldn't get a much better suit than the one from Reiss, and I can't fault the experience. The onyl thing stopping me shopping there every time, is my bank balance. But that's not really their fault is it.
Advantages: Some nice clothes Disadvantages: No refund policy, terrible customer service, bad value for money
Althought Reiss does have some nice clothes you should be aware of the implications of returning anything. They will NOT give you a cash refund even if the goods are damaged, which is infact illegal under the sale of goods act. I bought a feather gillet in the store and tried it on at home. Within 3 minutes of wearing it, my floor was covered in black feathers. When I tried to return it, they said any damaged goods are sent to their customer service ... ...penny in Reiss. I've even highlighted their refund policy to the trading standards who informed me i'm not the first person and they are investigating a number of claims. Beware people DO NOT BUY anything in Reiss unless you are 100% sure and also check the goods thoroughly before purchase." ...

Reiss is a high street shop offering one thing that many of the other high street stores do not, and that is an utter commitment not to cave in to the boy band look.
The paragraph above is the main reason why I like Reiss, I do most of my clothes shopping in small retailers, department stores and Reiss. I can't abide the en masse boy band look shops that produce clothes to make every bloke in the UK look exactly the same.
If this is reason enough ... ...Whenever I've worn something from Reiss people have commented on how much they like it, a good example being a sweater I recently bought which is a soft woollen material, people end up stroking it because it feels so good.
I usually shop at the Guildford branch and I've found the staff to be really helpful but they give you enough space to browse, whenever I've asked a question they've always been honest and helpful and there's never the feeling ...

Reiss comes into it's own in my opinion with the vast amount of accessories they stock. I would normally buy a hat there at the end of Winter to see an identical one on the catwalks in the late Spring. The only real issue with this store is the price of it's stock. It is a high street store but charges a lot more than it's competitors. However this could be viewed as a benefit too because who wants to shop with a bunch of ...

Advantages: nice shop, clothes well layed out, well displayed. Disadvantages: For me persoanlly, confusion.
...ago I decided to enter Reiss with my cousin. We wandered around for a bit, and he decided to look at some shirts. These shirts were short sleeved, they were made from a very soft material, and they were short in length, like a womans shirt. I laughed and said "You idiot those are women clothes", he looked at me and said "No they ain't". Then we started to have a little argument, then he had a bit of doubt as to whether or not they were mens shirts. ... ...then he told me, that those shirts were in the mens section so they had to mens. He then started to take the mickey out of me, because he loves that shop. But I was totally lost because to me they looked like womens shirts. Is it me or is this the latest fashion?
But I have to say the shop is nice, it does'nt look like the normal clothes shops, it's different, but that's the only thing I liked. My cousin loves the clothes, but for me it's a big ...

Quick review of Reiss (Shop)
I too was burnt by their ridiculous returns policy. I was bought a dress size 14 which was anything but a size 14. When i took it back they admitted it was small made and that those who bought it had to go up a size as it was so tight in the bust area. They don't do the bigger size and anything else i liked they didnt have in a size 14. They refused point blank to refund my money and helpfully suggested i could keep my credit note for three years until i saw something i liked! So I may have to wear a credit note to my friend's wedding on Saturday. Head office customer service team even less helpful "company policy" blah blah blah. Don't give them your money! ...
