Advantages: Good build quality, good range of sounds fairly cheap Disadvantages: No controls for centre frequency of waveshape
...After experiencing a drop in popularity throughout the 80's the phaser effect is now going through a sort of resurgence with the advent of dance music and stoner rock. In trance music the phaser is used mainly to give a kind of shifting filter sound to big hoovery noises and chords where as it is the massive backing power chords of stoner rock that are treated in order to turn your head inside out.
The Boss PH-2 Super Phaser has four controls on the case for rate, depth, resonance and mode. The rate knob controls the speed of the phasers sweep, in this case anywhere from 100ms all the way up to 14 seconds. At it's longest setting this pedal can almost make you want to vomit when the phasing spends too much time at the 'null point' where frequencies start to cancel each other out in a very strange manner. Advantages: lightweight, bend easily sound good Disadvantages: not as loud as heavy strings

Ernie Ball Super slinky strings sound good for lightweight strings, having a fuller and richer tone than many of the cheaper lightweight strings I have used. One of the reasons I like these strings is that they are very to get good finger vibrato from. I dislike tremolo units, like dear old Hank Marvin uses, preferring to get my sound by movement of the left hand on the fretted string.
Having returned to playing about five years ago, I found that the muscles in my fingers were not as strong...

Advantages: Get a lot of piano for your money Disadvantages: Not quite a Steinway
...Yamaha pianos have a reputation for been good quality at reasonable prices. Yamaha is a brand that really covers an amazing array of products. Grand pianos however tend to be something of a speciality.
Yamaha grand’s have to rate in the to 5 brands in the world. They are still, like every other piano make, quite some distance behind Steinways – but then again, the prices of Yamahas are considerably lower than Steinways.
The thing about Yamaha grand’s that really hits you is how bright the top end of the piano is, and how rich the bass is. They don’t tend to have the same range of tones as Steinways, but never the less are super instruments – terrific value for money....
