THE JESUS PAPERS

Advantages: nice front cover
Disadvantages: instantly forgetable book

Well despite the author Baigent's attempts at shock with this book it really does turn out to be a very laborious read. The front cover stating that the book exposes the greatest cover-up in history is probably the most thought provoking statement of the entire book. Riding on the back of the Da Vinci hoax the author tries unsuccessfully to capture some of the shock value generated by Dan Brown. The plot centers around a deal being struck with ...
...to be helped escape by the Romans. The author makes all sorts of unlikely claims , like discovering secret papers ( hence the books title ) and a church cover up. Whats new here? Nothing. The dissappointing thing is that the book simply has no hook value as it tends to wander aimlessly with stories of the authors investigations from London to Jerusalem. If you enjoyed the Da Vinci hoax then there just might be something here for you , however ...

Easy to use

Advantages: Easy to use and read, relatively cheap
Disadvantages: No frills

...good bibles easily available in the bookshops without paying a lot of money. Those that are reasonably priced tend to be in the King James version, which is fine, except that for many people this can be quite hard to read and understand without a dictionary. The Jerusalem Bible (Popular Edition) is therefore a pleasant find. It's reasonably priced (from £10 to £15 depending on whether you go for the soft- or hardback version), is easy to read, and ...

Holy Blood/ Holy Grail

Advantages: Interesting reading.
Disadvantages: My pages started to fall out.

...journey, for myself, started with The Bible and my desire to reconnect with God after years of thinking I was a bad person for abandoning The Church. My desire to know God and the truth behind all I had been taught as a child led me to pursue pastoral goals. However, the more I used my head, and 'discerned' as the Bible commanded of me to do - the more I started to see that what I was reading was an obvious manipulation of reality. At first I thought ...
...us many opportunities to find the truth that so many claim to be seeking. I would recommend this book to anyone that is TRULY seeking answers to things that do not add up. Things that they find hard to reason with that they are taught in church. This book ties together a lot of loose ends for those that are able to transcend the programming that most people have been getting for generations. This book does not necessarily intend to make people abandon ...

...likely levelling among those on the crowd of the wrong audiences. Why this is so, is because that mainly its readers are those of the merely curious, the scoffing prejudiced, and/or those who think that they could gain something from the book which level on the cheesy, the bizarre, and the perverted -- ‘sickos’ whom Anton LaVae would term in referring to as the ‘Losers’, whom he often attempted to dodge and avoid in associating with in his lifelong ...
