Advantages: absolutely incredible book that really moves you and inspires you Disadvantages: none at all!
‘Remember me’ was a book I received as a gift from Book Club Associates late last year. It is written by Lesley Pearse and was released properly early this year on January 29th 2004. I haven’t really read any of Lesley Pearse’s books but she has got quite a few bestsellers under her belt including ‘Trust Me’, ‘Never Look Back’ and ‘Father Unknown’. Obviously I don’t know what those ... ...are anything similar to this one they are definitely worth the read!
‘Remember Me’ tells the story of Mary Broad, a fisherman’s daughter from Cornwall back in 1786. A decade where there was no hot water, electricity, automobiles or any other modern conveniences we take for granted today. Another thing back then that wasn’t quite up to today’s standards was the law system. People such as Mary, were sentenced to be hung ...

Advantages: Addictive! Emotional and a real tear jerker Disadvantages: Leaves you wanting more!
...characters life.
I started Remember Me on a Wednesday morning on the train into work, and had finished it by Friday night. I was so addicted; I just couldn't put it down, and found myself sneaking off to the toilets at work just to read a couple more pages!
Remember me is a storey based in the 1700's, and follow's the life of a young girl called Mary Broad from Cornwall, who through misplaced friendships, finds herself involved in petty crimes ... ...search of adventure and independence.
Mary is of course soon arrested for her crimes, and after a short trial is sentenced to death by hanging. The death penalty is narrowly avoided and she is instead sent for transportation to a new land.
The storey tells of the horrors of the justice system in the 1700's, and graphically describes scenes and events, which are completely incomprehensible to someone brought up in this day and age. The treatment ...

Advantages: Takes you to another world Disadvantages: House work doesn't get done
This is the second book of Lesley's I've read.
I've got to say its one of the best books I read.
I went to the local library and had to get it in large print as they hadn't got it in any other at the time.
I read it in 3 days, at work in lunchtime, cooking tea, watching tv, surfing the net, just couldn't put it down.
The main character is a young woman called Mary Broad who steals a hat which starts off a harrowing live ahead. The book is based ... ...to be hanged, however this is the start of when convicts are being sent to Botany Bay and Mary is sent there to serve her sentence. The journey there is remarkable she sees sights and grows up rapidly. She learns to sell her body for food and to get items to help the other women too. This gets her pregnant with her first child Charlotte named after the ship she travelled to this new world on.
On the ship she meets another convict called Will Bryant ...

Advantages: An addictive storyline, hard to put down (if thats a good thing) Disadvantages: I didn't want it to end the way it did
...to care for her sick mother for years.
The story shows how two people met as children and enjoyed each others company, shared secrets and couldn't bear to be apart, got seperated and grew into adults, thier lives taking completely different paths, one a successful (but lonely) solicitor, the other a broken mother who loses her child and has to deal with mental health problems.
The story doesn't really have a happy ending as when someone kills as many people as this lady did the only thing that can lead to is prison, but you're left feeling sorry for her and wishing their was another alternative. The solicitor ends up meeting a man and being happy.
After this novel I did go back to my library and reserve a copy of RememberMe, another of LesleyPearses books, this book was as good if not better than Til We Meet Again, I don't flit from...

Advantages: Excellent characters you really get to know Disadvantages: None
...I got this book for Christmas and after reading a load of crime novels I thought I needed an easy read so decided to give this one a try. I wasn't sure if I'd read one of LesleyPearse's before but from looking at her previously published books I had read one, RememberMe, and recalled I had really enjoyed it and I'm not sure why I never tried another.
This book is fairly long at 610 pages and it took me a couple of weeks to read, but I found it was really easy to pick up and remember where you were.
It starts with the main character, Laura Brannigan, who is in jail for murdering her best friend Jackie. She has been in jail for two years but insists she is innocent, and has begun to feel that this is where she will remain when she receives a letter from an old boyfriend, Stuart. In his letter he says he has been out...

The Queen of Storytellers is back - with a triumphant tale of one woman's struggle over adversity. In 1786 a fisherman's daughter from Cornwall called Mary Broad was sentenced to be hung for theft. But her sentence was commuted, and she was transported to Australia, one of the first convicts to arrive there. How Mary escaped the harsh existence of the colony and found true love, and how she was captured and taken back to London in chains, only to be released after a trial where she was defended by no less than James Boswell, is one of the most gripping and moving stories of human endeavour (based on an amazing true story) you will ever read.
