~The Plot~
The story starts in 2004. Lexi Smart is 25 years old, and to say she is having a bad day would be an understatement. She has just missed out on getting a bonus at work, and been stood up by her boyfriend. It is also the eve of her father's funeral, and although they weren't close, and his death wasn't entirely unexpected, she is still dreading it.
When Lexi wakes up the next morning, she has a terrible headache and is in unfamiliar surroundings. She realises she is in hospital and calls a nurse. The nurse tells her that she has been in hospital for a week after crashing her Mercedes. Lexi explains that there must be a mistake - she can't drive, and even if she could, she certainly couldn't afford a Mercedes on her low wage. She asks the nurse to bring her handbag, and the nurse brings in a gorgeous designer bag. Again, Lexi explains there must be a mistake - this is not her bag. These coupled with a few other confusing incidents lead the medical staff to realise that Lexi is suffering from Amnesia.
They explain to Lexi, that it is not 2004, it is in fact 2007. Lexi has forgotten the last three years of her life! Of course this shocks her, but there are even bigger shocks to come as she discovers she is now head of her department at work, her crooked teeth are now perfect and the biggest shock of all - she is married to a millionaire!
Once over the shock, Lexi meets her husband, Eric, for the first time (or the first time that she remembers anyway), and discovers that her life looks pretty fantastic. They live in an amazing apartment, and she has everything that anyone could wish for. But is her life as good as it looks from the outside? And what really happened in those missing three years to turn her from a mousy haired girl with gappy teeth and junior of her department, to high powered businesswoman, with a drop dead gorgeous, rich husband? Will her memory ever return? I'll leave it there before I give too much away!
~What I thought~
I loved this book from start to finish. It's rare that I will get through a book in one night as I did with this one, it normally takes me a week or two, but I couldn't put this down, and was kinda sad when it ended!
The character of Lexi was great, you had a sympathy with her from the very beginning, and I was willing everything to work out for her. There were some other great characters too, such as rebellious teenage sister Amy, who is hilarious, and I often found myself laughing out loud at her antics.
I must admit, I thought that the book was quite predictable, but it was done in a clever way, that the reader could figure out what was going on before the character, who was obviously in a very confused state, having forgotten the last three years. As a reader, having guessed what was about to come, it made me want to read on, and see what happened when realisation dawned on the character, if that makes sense.
I thought this book had everything. The main character having amnesia meant that it had that mystery element, there were dark moments, some amazingly romantic moments, and all the while it was hilariously funny. All in all, I loved this book, and can't wait to read more by Sophie Kinsella soon.
Advantages: Good storyline easy to get into Disadvantages: Is a little too 'fluffy' when dealing with the subject of memory loss
...when she is trying to remember how to drive (I mean she managed to do a perfect chignon on auto-pilot, surely she should be able to remember how to drive), and trying to remember how to avoid pillars, a dishevelled, sexy guy turns up to help her, and drops another bombshell.
What in god’s name happened to her? Will she ever remember how she became this person from who she once was?
I have only read one previous novel by Sophia Kinsella, and that ... ...I woke up and couldn’t remember three years of my life and there had been such big changes, I think scared would be the smallest word that I would use to explain my emotion. This book is escapism, pure and simple, and one that managed to keep me engrossed long enough for me to finish in a few hours.

Advantages: funny, good storyline, great characters Disadvantages: none whatsoever
Sophie Kinsella. That name, like Marian Keyes and Jill Mansell, instantly screams "funny brilliant chick-lit" to me. It's one of the names I always keep an eye out with regard to new books because I know I'm guaranteed a good read. Not only has the Shopaholic series been consistently excellent as well as providing us with one of the best fictional heroines of all time in my opinion, but her standalone books "Can You Keep a Secret?" and "The Undomestic ... ...hilarity and addictiveness. So when I heard that she had a new book coming out, I was instantly eager to read it. I tend to try and wait until books come out in paperback generally as I can't afford to always buy hardback versions of books - but I just couldn't wait for this one. For one thing, it just sounded like such an interesting idea for a novel. For another . . . it was Sophie Kinsella! Isn't that argument enough for a chick-lit fan like myself?

...Eric – who she doesn’t remember AT ALL. Not only that, but her hair is glossy, her teeth are straight and she’s in the best shape of here life!
What on earth is going on?
Before too long Lexi realises that there are MANY, MANY other questions waiting to be answered, such as: Why do my old friends hate me now? How did I turn into this ambitious, driven woman? When did I stop stuffing myself with carbs at every opportunity? What has happened to my ... ...very upset that I don’t remember him?
===Who will it appeal to?===
This book will be enjoyed by just about any fan of the chick-lit genre, and you should definitely read it if you liked Kinsella’s previous novels. I actually preferred this book to any of the others she’s written so far, which is praise indeed as I found them all extremely readable!

...the three years she can't remember as some people would obviously prefer it if they can re-write what has happened.
I really recommend this book as a must read for chick lit fans. It was easy to read and get into, and at times was so funny I laughed out loud, which doesn't happen often with books for me. It is a light-hearted story which is perfect for reading anytime and I didn't want to put it down.

Advantages: Likable characters, simple yet enjoyable storyline Disadvantages: some people may dislike Kinsella's writing style
Since Reading the first two books in the Shopaholic Series I have became a fan of SophieKinsella, and out of all the books I have read there isn?t one which has disappointed me in the slightest. There has been one book which I thought was going to be a letdown as the story was pretty boring for the first couple of chapters but it soon picked up after that and was a really enjoyable book to read.
RememberMe? Tells the tale of Lexi Smart, 28 year old Lexi Smart wakes up in a Private London hospital and has the shock of her life. She has been in a car accident and has lost 3 years of her memory, Lexi still thinks she is 25 years old. Lexi gets more of a shock when she notices significant changes in her appearance and body; she has perfect manicured nails whereas 3 years ago her nails were all ragged and bitten, she has a nice toned ...
Advantages: Excellent story and characters Disadvantages: Could not put it down at times
and put across in such a fun and easy to read way. I know it would not be fun if I was the one who could not remember the last 3 years of my life but the story was told with just the right about of seriousness and humour it really did work and was quite believable. The one downside for me from this book was the fact that at times I was unable to put it down.
The book which I have is the hard back edition and the front cover has a picture of a car covered in sunflowers and the title and authors name above this. The back cover has a list of some of the other titles available from SophieKinsella. Upon opening the book on the front and back sections of the book cover you can find a short paragraph about this book and then one about Sophie. I found these to be very enjoyable to read and enjoyed finding out slightly more about the author ...
Advantages: Soooo addictive! Disadvantages: wasnt long enough! i wanted it to go on forever.
I'm not really the reading type, but i found it about to be thrown out and thought its never to late to try! :) I started reading it and found i had an obsession the book was amazing! i was completly glued to it.
It took me about 2-3 days to finish it and i would not hesitate to read it again. With most books i have actually read i found that the story lines were completley impossible, and i think 'no way could this happen in real life' but everything seemed for real.
I would be so grateful if this book was ever made into a film, i would love to see the actors chosen to play the characters. I was fasinated by each character, i mean they all had such a diffrent part to the story.
Compared to similar books, i wouldnt really know because i dont read a lot of books, but if i did i am rather sure it would be in the top range. I mean ...
