Remington BP600 Bath Massage Pillow
The remington bath massage pillow was given to me by my boyfriend as he had aquired it some time ago and never used it, during a big clearout if I didn't take it, it was going to be binned! What a waste that would've been! The pillow is from Remington's Spa Therapy Collection and other products in that range are bath spa's, foot spa's and other massage products. I havn't seen this particular product in stores but had a look on e-bay and there going for around £15-£20 on there.
The bath
massage pillow comes boxed with the pillow already inside it's white cover, there is a charger included and two bottles of aromatherapy oil; sensual oil and relaxing oil. It is intended to massage the neck, shoulders and upper back and can be used wet or dry. The oils are simply a little extra to add to your bath and help you to relax so that you get more out of the experience and the product. The product also comes with a two year manufacturers guarantee.
The Remington Bath Massage Pillow takes twelve hours to charge completely and the charger is inserted at the back of the pillow. The cover fastens with velcro at the rear and if you pull the velcro apart, underneath is a waterproof plug guard that when opened reveals the charging connector. The pillow cannot be used whilst the charger is plugged in. You do need to remember to put the plug guard back in when the you've finished charging as water getting in will damage the pillow.
The pillow is worn by placing it behind your back and wrapping it's 'arms' around yourself over your shoulders and fastening with velcro at the front. The velcro allows you to adapt how tight you want the pillow. The controls are just two buttons on the left arm of the pillow, there are just two massage speeds. The manufacturers recommend that you don't use it for longer than fifteen minutes. The terry cover has Remington embroidered accross the top and is removable so that it can be washed. After using the pillow in the bath it dries fairly quickly. I have found that the pillow is nice for occasional use when you want to pamper yourself a bit. For me personally it also depends what mood I'm in and how relaxed I am as to what effect I get from it. There was one occasion when there were no kids in, we had the day off work and had been up late the night before but had a nice lie-in for a change! I went up for a bath and used the pillow for a good twenty minutes and nearly fell asleep I was that chilled out. When I got out of the bath I could really feel a difference in my shoulders and could easily have gone back to bed. On the
other hand I have used it when my little lad has been pottering about and although it's still nice, it had nowhere near the same impact! I havn't used the oils in the bath because I can't stand the residue oils leave behind in my bath, I'm a bit of a clean freak like that! But they did come in handy for my oil burner and smelled lovely!
The user guide is very simple, it's more of a leaflet than anything with a diagram of the pillow, operating instructions, cleaning instructions and safety instructions.
On the whole I would recommend this product but wouldn't spend more than £15 on it. It's something that is nice when you want a bit of 'me' time but with my
lifestyle I don't get much of that haha! It does work but I think you need to be relaxed and able to detatch yourself from whats going on around you to get the best out of it. Its easy to use and the battery is long lasting although the charging time is a bit long.
