Whilst writing this review, I checked ebay and found the same straighteners for as little as 99p (not inlcuding P&P).
When considering buying my first ceramic straighteners I wasn't sure whether to buy an expensive, more professional pair, or to buy the cheapest I could find, to see if I could get on with them.
I opted for the cheaper and cheerful pair. I found this product in the Avon catalogue for £9.99. The offer at the time was that it also came with free hair products (sleek shine spray and heat protection spray). I thought this was a good deal. The writing on the packaging claims:
Ceramic coated plates for even heat and smooth styling results.
Slim design for all hair lengths - ideal for layered and shorter styles.
on-off switch and indicator light.
cool tip to protect fingers.
Hang up loop.
1.8m cable.
The leaflet inside states that it is guaranteed for 2 years. In short, it doesn't have many features; it doesn't have variable heat settings, digital technology, 'ready to use' light. Its just got an on - off sliding switch, which is quite annoying as i've caught it many a time by accident and switched it off mid way through straightening.
It does take a while to heat up sufficiently. I usually switch it on 5 minutes before I want to use it. The box doesn't state how hot the straighteners get, or how long it should take, and to the best of my knowledge, there was no instructions to accompany the product. If my hair is slightly damp, it seems to take ages. I've had my hair straightened at the hairdressers and there's no way it gets as hot as theirs - the hairdressers gets so hot that steam comes off my hair!!!!
I would say that it gets hair straighter - not completely straight.
The cord may be too short for people who do not have access to a close power socket. (in the Argos catologue, 3m cables are advertised as 'salon length cables' - 3m is nearly double the length of this products cable.)

The remington CS2000 is a reasonable starter product to learn the technique of straightening hair but its very basic and you could outgrow them quick and soon want another pair. I think a lot of people will be disappointed with this products results.

Quick review of Remington CS2000 Hair straighteners
Avoid buying this.
This Remington CS2000 hair straighteners are not what I quite expected. When I first try to straighten my hair, it wasn't in good use. When I want it to straighten, it sort of won't let me. Although it does make my hair smooth. This is my worst experience of one pair of hair straighteners! ...
