Hey guys! Back today, reviewing more things I got for xmas and something that has saved me from having bad hair months (not days.....months) and makes my hair look fab......ladies and gentlemen, may I present........
REMINGTON CS3000 CERAMIC HAIR STRAIGHTENER
Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaa (That's just because I think it's so wicked!)
Now I am a natural red head and wouldn't change my colour for the world, but I would change the thickness of it! No matter what I do to it, it's always thick and wavy, regardless of frizz-free shampoos, hair serums and other hair products! There is not a single day that goes by when my hair is straight. It usually has a huge kink in it or it sticks out and on some days, I can look like Sonic the bleeding hedgehog! My hair can go quite curly, when I'm in the mood and can be bothered to put the effort in, but you know when you feel like a change...well I felt like one.
Everyone says that people who have straight hair want curly, and people who have curly hair want straight. Well I would say that is true, but in my case, it was half straight and needed some help.
AND SO THE STORY BEGINS......
My older sister bought home a pair of straighteners as she didn't have any. They worked really for her and she said it was really quick to straighten her hair. Being a bit skeptical, she said I should try and see what I thought. Bear in mind, my hair goes down my waist, I wasn't so sure, but gave it a go.
***WHAT DO THESE STRAIGHTENERS LOOK LIKE?***
As you can see from the picture above, they are quite slim in design, but of a decent length. Straighteners are better in length than they are in width in my opinion!
They have two orange, ceramic plates in the middle, (more will be explained about those later) and the straighteners have a kind of spring at the end. When you're not using the straighteners, they stay open, like in the picture but when you use them, you clamp them close and then they spring open when you release them. Handy! Of course, this is not a portable straightener and comes with a cord and plug which stretches for 3 meters.
On the top of the straighteners, at the very tip of them is a cooling tip (more will be explained about this later) and the Remington logo a bit further down. Beneath the logo is a small red light that tells you when the straighteners are on. Below this there is a small rough, jagged bit where you thumb will naturally rest when you hold the straighteners.
***SO HOW DO I USE THEM?***
Simply take the straighteners out of their packaging and plug them in to the nearest socket. When you do, the red indicator light will come on to tell you the appliance is on.
I should point out that some Remington straighteners have the "Wet to Straight" ad attached to them. This is not one of those. Your hair must be dry and not wet before you use them.
Divide your hair into sections and spray them with something that will protect your hair from drying out. Start from top to bottom when straightening hair, with the sections at the back of your head first, working your way around to the front.
Take a section of hair and pull it so it is straight. Hold the straighteners with the other hand and put the straighteners at the top, but not on the scalp. Squeeze the plates together and gently glide the straighteners down your hair without stopping. Only do this maximum of twice to avoid damaging the hair.
***TELL ME A BIT MORE ABOUT THEM***
The ceramic plates on these straighteners and straighteners like it, are the best kind. They are used by professional hairdressers and some help to lock in moisture, to stop hair from drying out so badly. The ceramic plates on my straighteners heat up in about 60 seconds which is very fast!
The cooling tip at the top of the straighteners is a good idea because these straighteners can get very hot, very quickly and if your not careful, can be too hot to touch, hence the cooling tip. You can use the cooling tip to squeeze the hair together and you control how hard you squeeze the plates together.
Like all appliances, they occasionally need to be cleaned and maintained. All you have to do is make sure that the straighteners are cool and clean the whole thing with a damp cloth to get rid of dirt and the residue off styling products.
The good thing about these straighteners is that they do not have an on/off button on them directly, so it means, to switch them off, you have to do it at the plug. I think this is really good, as it encourages you to turn them off at the plug! At least you know you've switched them off properly, can leave the house, and not worry you've left them on and are going to burn the house down!
***MY PERSONAL OPINION***
When I used my sister's pair, I thought these were great. I have long hair down to the middle of my back and thought that it would take forever for the straighteners to do the job. It didn't! Me straightening my hair took about 20 mins maximum. I noticed that when I used them, they got hot very quickly and that when straightening, if I left them in one place for more than 2 seconds, I'd get a small dent in my hair from where they had been. Didn't bother me though.
After my hair had been straightened, it looked glossy and shiny, and made the ends look like I had just come out of a salon. I was hugely impressed with this. The straighteners were light, easy to use and worked wonders on my frizz-ball hair! I would completley recommend them to anyone who wants straight hair! I loved them so much that my sister got me the exact same pair from Boots for xmas (which is where she got hers in the first place!)
***WHERE CAN I BUY THEM? HOW MUCH? GUARANTEE?***
My sister bought mine and hers at our local Boots shop in town. They cost £20 which is a real bargain, and this wasn't even in the January sales! They might have been reduced even more so get em cheap whilst you can! It'd be really worth it!
I was also surprised to learn that these straighteners came with a 2 year guarantee. Remington will replace the straighteners if they are faulty or replace it free of charge. They don't replace it if you break it!
***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***
Do not let the straighteners touch your hair, you could burn your scalp. Don't leave these straighteners on for more than 30 minutes. Hair should be dry and tangle free. Rest the straighteners on a cool, flat, heat resistant surface when on and off. Don't let the ceramic plates touch any part of your skin. Give it time to cool down after use before putting away. Don't use any chemicals to clean these straighteners as you could damage the plates. A soft, damp cloth will do. Try not to scratch the ceramic plates as they will lose their effectiveness.
***SAFETY CAUTIONS***
Don't leave them unattended. Don't immerse in water or any liquid. Don't put on soft material (cloth, bedding etc) Avoid contact with skin Don't use any attachments with this product. Supervise children when they use it. Always switch them off at the plug. Don't let them get too hot. Don't leave them on for too long.
***OVERALL TECHIE BITS***
Name: Remington CS3000 Ceramic Hair Straighteners Price: £20 Where to buy: Boots Guarantee: Yes for 2 years Instructions: Yes and simple to understand Plates: They are ceramic
I hope you found this review of use. I would recommend this to anyone and gets the full 5 out of 5 stars from me!
Advantages: easy to use, quick to heat up, good price Disadvantages: can't be used on wet hair
I was given this Remington hair straightener as a present about a year ago. Before using these, I was using some Vidal Sasoon, non-ceramic straighteners. These took a long time to heat up (and when they did they weren't all that hot), and they did not actually make my hair any straighter!
When I was given these, I don't think I actually used them for around 2 months, because I just expected that they would be exactly the same as my previous ones, ... ...in the range - the Remington CS5000 are more widely available at the moment, these look the same and I cannot see of any added features, but I'm assuming there are some as it has a different model number.
** Other info **
Wiping with a damp cloth when the straigtener is unplugged easily cleans these - you must not use any kind of cleaning solutions on them, as this can damage the ceramic coating.
Keep these on a heat resistant surface, as they ...

Remington cs3000 ceramic hair straighteners - I hereby salute you and put you on a pedestal
Having been blessed with slightly wavy hair- if I don't use straighteners my hair is more bush baby than sleek goddess- I have used other hair straighteners before but none have been able to rival Remington's ceramic ones
I owe many good hair days to Remington, having to use them every other day they make it easy for me to straighten my hair quickly and ... ...a cooling tip and the Remington logo just in case you forgot what brand you had bought, the all important red light is at the top of the straighteners and lights up when it is on, that's when they are working
They do get extremely hot so you really do need to be careful with them, you aren't advised to hold them on your hair for longer than two seconds, but I find that my hair is straight enough as soon as I clamp and slide them down the section ...

I was so dying to have a straightener so when my gran finally bought me one, I was over the moon because I thought no more wavy hair but 7 months later am I still overmoon? Let's find out.
You can buy this straightener (CS3000) in Argos, Comet, Tesco, Boots etc. They will cost you from £19.40-2.99. Cheapest is at Tesco for £20.48 (free delivery). Argos does it cheaper for £19.40 but you do have a ... ...than Tesco and most expensive I've found it at Freemans at £29.99. It's black with white/yellow Ceramic plates. The ceramic coating enables it to glide easier through your hair. It has a cable of 3 metres so you can actually use them in a mirror far away from a plug. They are very light weight which makes them easy to handle and especially if you've got a lot of hair, your arm won't start to feel heavy after straightening half your hair. They heat ...

...lying unplugged on my drawers. Remington recommends you don't leave them plugged in for more than 30 minutes.
The cable can be a bit dodgy if you tend to wrap the cable around the straighteners. If you do wrap the cable around the straighteners, be prepared to have to buy a new set after a while. Mine have lasted me over a year so far which is good considering they cost me less than £20.
I would recommend these to anyone who is thinking of buying ...

Advantages: They work!! Extra long cable. Quick to heat up. Disadvantages: No stand or heat resistant mat supplied with them.
...research on the net and Remington kept coming up with good reviews so when I stumbled across this pair in my local Boots reduced to only £16.66, I thought what have a got to lose. (other than my nice new hair cut which had already seen better days!)
It took me a couple of attempts to get the hang of it, but they seemed to do the trick nicely. My sleek glossy hair returned once more which was quite a surprise for my thick locks. My hair just glided ... ...try and rip it out!
My hairdresser reckons the make doesn't matter too much, it's the temperature that they heat up to and these ones do get hot although I don't know exactly what temp they reach. I think I might have read about 200 degrees somewhere. I do need to get a stand or heat resistant mat though as I get scared to put them down somewhere whilst they're on.
I have read that these don't have the longest life span though but what do you expect ...
