I love taking pride in my appearance, just like every other female. Very recently, I purchased a pair of straighteners to try and straighten my thick, non-natural blonde, naturally wavy hair. I have tried and tested other products in the past, which have failed miserably. Nothing was working for me and I spent quite a bit of money testing these new products (we wont go into exactly how much I have spent) so I gave up and continued to scrunch-dry my hair and usually have it wavy or tied back. When you think nothing works for you, you give up, which is exactly what I did. Now, I am one of these people that with naturally wavy hair want my hair to be straight, and I mean STRAIGHT.
After browsing in and out of shops on one of my lunch-breaks, I wondered into Boots and had a look at their Hair Appliances (my hair-dryer is on its way out at the moment). What do I see in front of me, but an awry of hair straighteners - Babyliss, Toni & Guy and Remington.
Well, it’s all a little bit overwhelming at first, because from my first experience of hair straighteners, the only question going through my mind is which one do I trust?
I convince myself (like you do) that it wouldn’t hurt to try at least another product, one that is a little bit more pricey than what I have spent previously (because you get what you pay for - as they say) and give it one more go at straightening my hair.
Thirty minutes of my precious lunch-break passes and I am still reading box after box to try and justify which straightener to choose. I have to be ruthless and pick one. I finally start narrowing my criteria down and making some sensible and adult decisions. I decide I don’t want to pay £50 on a pair if they don’t work. For some strange reason, my eyes keep falling upon the Remington Ceramic Straighteners. They look really slender, easy to handle, on/off switch on the side, plug comes with, they are plain black thongs with pastel yellow ceramic irons. To top it off, Remington is a good, well known brand. The price was, well I thought the price was really reasonable - £24.99! I have also later found out that you can buy these very same Straighteners from Tesco for £21.95. But it’s only a few quid difference I suppose, but it’s always the way isn’t it? Buying something and then finding out the exact same product is on sale elsewhere for cheaper! Doh!
I finally pick the box up and make my way over to the cashier and hand over my Switch Card (time is also getting on and my lunch-break is almost over) - need to get back to work!
Anyway, I couldn’t wait to get home and try my new straighteners (I do get out quite a lot, for those of you who are wondering this is how I spend my spare time) :-) So, I wash and dry my hair as normal and then I plug my new straighteners in and leave them to heat up for about 10 minutes so they get nice and hot (this is enough time to pour myself a nice, large glass of red wine).
It’s time to start using my new straighteners. They are very, very hot, scorching in fact, due care and attention is needed at all times. I tie half of my hair back and leave the bit at the back down, just like in the hair salons and I start to run the irons through my hair. Slowly, slowly, a bit at a time, sliding the irons through my hair and I can see, right in front of my eyes, instant, STRAIGHT results! As you can imagine, I am getting more and more excited by the minute. I can’t wait to finish the whole lot. I separate more hair, tying back the bits I need to keep out of the way and I repeat straightening my hair. This goes on until I have finished the whole lot. I am SO impressed with what I am looking at. I have finally found a wonderful product that ACTUALLY straightens my unmanageable hair! Lets just say my boyfriend is immensely impressed with the results and wants to show his “new bird” off to his mate! Fantastic! Anyway, to finish off the new lovely, sleek look, I use a little of my hair wax, because no matter what I do to my hair, it tends to frizz, so I use dry wax, which holds my new straight hair in place perfectly!
As you can tell, I am thoroughly impressed with this product and of course I recommend to anyone out there that has the same unmanageable hair problems that I have had in the past. Not any more! I am extremely happy with this product and I might have to say they are my pride and joy (along with my Renault Clio) :-)
Remington boasts products such as Hairdryers, Lady Razors & Electric Shavers, Men’s Razors & Electric Shavers, Aromatherapy Foot Spa’s and probably the most famous late ‘70’s early ‘80’s product that sticks in my mind - The Remington Fuzz-Away. Specially designed to remove bobbles of jumper fluff from your woolly pullover (I wonder if they still exist?) I wonder how many of you out there actually remember the advert with Victor Kiam?! Anyway, I’m digressing!
If you are unsure about the Remington Ceramic Straighteners, I can honestly say, they are the best purchase I have made with regard to hair appliances in a long, long time.
I love them and I love my new, straight hair just as much! Thank you Remington!

(+) Funky pattern, quick to heat up, adjustable temperature, slim, lighweight (-) Have to prise them away from mum when I want to use them in the morning
Considering that I do not take much pride in my apperance and don't use any electrical beautifying appliences I found your op really entertaining. I usually get slightly bored with too much of a storyline in a review (just a persoanl thing) but yours are simply fun to read. And informative too.

My hair is as straight as a dye - so no need for these personally - but my sister uses straighteners so will recommend them to her - good op xxx
Advantages: They have a little clip thing on base so it can rest on a platform without burning anything, they have a heat-proof bag to put them in once you've finished using them, you can choose the heat setting and they are cheaper than all others in their league. Disadvantages: None...yet!
Advantages: cheap, 60 second heat up, super smooth straight hair, lasts until you next wash your hair Disadvantages: after regular use the ceramic comes off as they are not solid only coated
