...one of these super little Remington Fuzz Away's. They remove every little annoying bobble in sight!!
I had heard of these before, many years ago, when I was really little. I'd seen them advertised on TV, but never really thought much about them before. Lately though my old joggy-bottoms and tee-shirts have been developing a few nasty looking round tufts. I'd been trying to pull them off, one by one, but it was so mind numbingly boring, ... ...just have to ask dad for some dosh (or go busking again!) to get myself some new gear.
Once again though my trusted old nan came to the rescue! When she came to our house for tea last week I was ironing in our living room and moaning on and on about all the little bobbles on my (quite new) top. I was trying to pull the bobbles off but there were just so many of them!! Nan asked me what I was doing, and when I explained she told mum ... more

I had heard of these before, many years ago, when I was really little. I'd seen them advertised on TV, but never really thought much about them before. Lately though my old joggy-bottoms and tee-shirts have been developing a few nasty looking round tufts. I'd been trying to pull them off, one by one, but it was so mind numbingly boring, I quickly lost the will to live and decided I'd just have to ask dad for some dosh (or go busking again!) to get myself some new gear.
Once again though my trusted old nan came to the rescue! When she came to our house for tea last week I was ironing in our living room and moaning on and on about all the little bobbles on my (quite new) top. I was trying to pull the bobbles off but there were just so many of them!! Nan asked me what I was doing, and when I explained she told mum off for not washing our clothes properly and then told me that she had a Fuzz Away at her house I could borrow next time I went to visit.
Next day she loaned it to me and explained how I was to work it. She said she'd had it for years and paid top wack for it at the time (£10) from Comet. She says you can get them cheaper now and she's seen a few in the charity shops she goes into with her friend Ruby every now and again. When I first looked at it, it reminded me of a kiddie's plastic toy gun. It' a bit naff looking. Off-white in colour, hand held, with a kind of wire mesh head at the front. It has an on/off switch and is run on one size C battery. Nan had no batteries in this though, so after I got back from the chemist, and the co-op, and the corner shop (as no-one seemed to stock this particular sized battery for some reason), I finally set to work in bobble-removing.
I tried it first on my old navy tee-shirt. Under the armpits and own the sides were the worst bits. I switched it on and it made a deep, but not that loud, buzzing noise. The instructions said I was to move it in an upwards/downwards and circular motion, until all the bobbles were removed. I was so impressed at the speed with which this little contraption worked. I only had to go over my top a few times until it looked almost like new. Every single little (and big) bobble was removed and my top looked much fresher and newer.
After I'd experimented with my tee-shirt, I set about with my joggy-bottoms and then some more tops. Finally, I moved onto my mum's clothes and then my dad's. It was very therapeutic and I loved the satisfaction of systematically going around and removing everyone's bobbles!! Then I tried it on my mum's cushions on our sofa. She's had them for years and years. They have been washed a thousand times and are a bit worse for wear, faded beyond belief but still with those horrible little bobbles. It worked perfectly!! Obviously it doesn't restore the colour (unfortunately), but just removing the bobbles gives the cushions a whole new lease of life!! I know this review probably makes me sound very sad, but do I care? Not one bit!!
The only downside is that the battery doesn't' last that long and it needs to be changed quite frequently, so if you have a lot of bobble-removing to undertake, you're probably best off using rechargeable ones. I did my bedding and my curtains and mum was really pleased with the results. Later that evening my brother took hold of it and proceeded to shave the back of his neck with it, where all his sticky out hairy bits protrude. For me, this was probably the highlight of my day as I watched as his face filled with terror, horror and absolute agony as the Fuzz Away grabbed mercilessly at the back of his neck. He screeched and howled with pain and tears came to his eyes. Once he'd removed it from his hairy bits, he swore and threw it towards me and said it was "useless". I told him it was meant for removing bobbles from clothes, but he just wouldn't listen - his own fault!! It removed the heads of two of his spots though, so, some success!!
All in all, a very good product which I would highly recommend for the removal of irritating bobbles from your clothing. It's not expensive, it's so easy to use and quite relaxing as you can even use it while watching the TV. Not suitable for hair removal though, but for lancing your spots it works a treat!!
Advantages: Simple and easy to use and works well . Disadvantages: None.
...a great little gadget The Remington Fuzz-Away is, I remember the first one I got as a pressie about 15 years ago, I'm now on my third one due to the fact that the first one I owned was stepped on and the second was borrowed and I did'nt get it back! This little battery operated gadget is used for shaving off those unsightly bobbles that appear on your clothes, I've used it with very good results on socks, jumpers, tops, trousers and jogging bottoms, ... ...and bedding ect and isn't just limited to clothing. The Fuzz-away is simply a low voltage battery operated fabric shaver which is small and lightweight and fits nicely in the hand. It has a perforated mesh head which is glided back and forth over the fabric until the bobbles are removed. The bobbles are removed by the small rotating blades behind the mesh head and are sucked through the holes in the mesh and into the small see through storage compartment, ...

Advantages: Debobbles with aplomb Disadvantages: Too small to debobble a bobble hat
This is the whirry little thing that you can shave your clothes with. It removes the "Bobbles" that appear inexplicably when your jumpers get old. In short - It works.
Not the most extensive opinion I grant you, so I'll expand....
Basically its a battery operated rotating blade that spins behind a mesh screen, not unlike an old electric razor, and anything that pokes through the mesh is cut off, leaving a smooth efect on previously bobbly material. ... ...not chainmail. The bigger the weave or knit, the bigger the bobble and the less likely it will fit through the mesh.
If you havn't seen one, its hand held, looks a bit like a chunky electric razor too and it cost me about £6 a few years ago. Its black vinyl effect and doubles as a phaser if you are playing Star Trek with your children.
Its dead simple to clean out, just slide off a hatch thing and pour out the bobbles, if you keep the old bobbles ...

I actually have 2 of these. The first I bought was a Remmington but when we moved house I misplaced it. I definitely had to have one but was unable to find another Remmington and bought a different make from Innovations. Needless to say I found my old one soon afterwards. This is a very useful little gadget for shaving the bobbles that develop on items of clothing such as; socks, T-Shirts, jerseys and tracksuits. It has saved me from throwing away ... ...giving them a shave they were almost as good as new. I use it when I am doing the ironing. It’s quite fun shaving the bobbles off and I do sometimes get carried away. A little light entertainment in the sheer drudgery of housework.
By one, I definitely find it difficult to do without it.
Unfortunatley I cannot remember how much the Remmington was but the other make from innovations is about £5.99. See if you can source one elsewhere as innovations ...

Advantages: makes tired old jumper new again Disadvantages: none
This little appliance should be in everyones top drawer.
I found out about this tool some years ago, when i was just about to bin yet another jumper, for looking too shabby and bobbly....Stop my friend cried, try this...and whats that going to do i asked ?...well was i surprised..
O.k it took some work at first, but when finished my jumper looked like i had just bought it home from the shop. well that was it then, i had to have one.... and it becomes ... ...my niece came over complaining her wool tighs were fit for the bin..but oh no..not when i had finished with them..she laughed at me at first, but was shocked when her tights came back silky smooth..lol.
Alas my first one broke, and i hunted high and low, i eventually found one in a charity shop, and went home to shave and de-bobble yet another jumper.
Ive recently invested in the deluxe size fuzz away, its a bit cumbersome to begin with, but once ...

Advantages: Makes jumpers look like new again Disadvantages: None that I could think of
I own one of these. Ibought one because they were being sold half
price in a sale but I was doubtful as to whether it would work or not.
However, it did the job perfectly and I wouldn't be without it now.
It works on one 1.5volt battery which lasts for ages, in fact I don't
think I've changed the battery in mine in about three years.
You know those annoying "bobbly bits" that appear on woollen jumpers
after you've worn them only two or three ... ...like a razor and all you have to do is switch it on and run it
gently over the surface of the fabric. It does not harm the material at all and you end up with a jumper that looks like new.
I would definitely recommend buying one of these to keep your
jumpers looking like new.
You might be luckylike Iwas and find one in the sales, although
they don't cost much to buy at full price! ...

Advantages: They actually work! Disadvantages: I burn my fingers on the hot irons - but I'm very clumsy anyway
hair problems that I have had in the past. Not any more! I am extremely happy with this product and I might have to say they are my pride and joy (along with my Renault Clio) :-)
Remington boasts products such as Hairdryers, Lady Razors & Electric Shavers, Men?s Razors & Electric Shavers, Aromatherapy Foot Spa?s and probably the most famous late ?70?s early ?80?s product that sticks in my mind - The RemingtonFuzz-Away. Specially designed to remove bobbles of jumper fluff from your woolly pullover (I wonder if they still exist?) I wonder how many of you out there actually remember the advert with Victor Kiam?! Anyway, I?m digressing!
If you are unsure about the Remington Ceramic Straighteners, I can honestly say, they are the best purchase I have made with regard to hair appliances in a long, long time.
