Having a beard means that shaving is simply a matter of tidying up with the odd little tinkle of the razor here and there.

The main problem I had was keeping it all looking neat and trim. This is very painstaking when done with a comb and scissors so something was going to have to purchased for this specific purpose, hence this review.

The kit comprises of

1. Main charger and stand
2. Three interchangeable heads
3. Two cutting guides
4. One main rechargeable unit

The main charger simply plugs into the mains to facilitate the charging of the main unit, which is about 5 inches in length. It's tubular in shape with the charging pins secreted in the bottom and recessed slightly for safety. The top of the unit has the main motor and associated parts, which are essential to the operation of the attachments. It is therefore important that you take care not to damage any of these parts and not play about as temptation might have you do. Although these parts are evident when none of the heads are fitted once a head is fitted there is no risk of breaking any of the internal workings.

The three interchangeable cutting guides fit to the main cutting head, which has a width of 1.25 inches. This unit can be used by itself to give a very close cut, and is handy for neck trims and the like. The guides cut in various sizes from 3mm to 12mm and each have identifiers on their top surface to indicate the cut. I have found that the 6mm cut gives me a very neat and tailored looking beard, which I normally extend to the sideburns as well. I tend to use the 3mm cut for my moustache which I like to be kept quite short, and believe me 3mm is quite short when it comes to a moustache.

The other two heads are reducing in size from the 1.25 inches of the main one to the .5-inch of the smallest. These two are used primarily to shape and highlight the cut you have chosen. Although as I said I use the unit for my beard it can be used to create that individual haircuts that seems so popular with the youth. The main unit keeps the charge well and recharging only takes an hour or so

Each of the units are in very solid plastic with parts being of metal with a rainbow sheen, coloured and shiny silver. The whole concept is that of neatness and tidiness and the unit reflects this in its very smart and appealing design. Apart from it looking and performing exceptionally well, it feels solid and sturdy and I do believe I will be a long time before I need purchase and similar item. A small nasal trimmer is aslo supplie and requires a separate AAA battery.

All in al this is a very good and efficient unit, which looks and feels very professional. Certain aspects of it do require a little skill and practice but the results are impressive. Once mastered it takes only a few minutes to spruce up and look smart and tidy again. If there is a drawback then it might be in the fact that it is not water friendly therefore cleaning can get a bit messy. If used over a sink though then most of the mess is easily flushed away. A great piece of kit well worth the £25 outlay.
