In boots I was faced with about 15 different makes of hair straightners. My friend had ghd straightners but I thought they were a bit pricey so was looking for something with just as good quality but a lower price.
An advisor in boots helped suggest different straightners to me and told me what different functions they had.
I decided to go with the Remington sleek & curl straightners which were about £49.99 at the time. They came in a lovely black suede box which was heat protected and inside the box came an instruction dvd, booklet, guarantee, the straightners and a travel, heat protected travel pouch for the straightners. I travel a lot and the travel pouch was perfect to protect my straightners from damage when on the move. It also has a velcro hook where you can wind the lead up and velcro the material up so the lead sits neatly with the pouch and straightners (no more untangling leads!)
The straightners are black in colour and has 3 x protection which also attracted me into buying this product. The straightnes have ceramic coated plates with Teflon and Tourmaline which helps prevent frizz and static. They have temperature control with an led light to tell you when the straightners have heated up to the temperature you choose. After using the straightners and letting them cool down, there's an easy flip down catch which shuts the straightners shut.
When I used these straightners for the first time I was amazed at how little pressure I had to put on the straightners when straightening my hair. They glided through my hair easily leaving it smooth and sleek without any frizzy-ness or the feeling of dry, straw like hair! They worked just as well as ghd's and my hair remained straight through-out the day
The dvd which came with the straightners, shows you how to creat curls using your straightners and also gives you other hair tips/advice, which i found very useful.
It took me a while to get used to curling my hair with the straightners but with a bit of practise and watching the dvd, I have now achieved this natural look and dont even need to use lots of hair products to keep it in place, (just a tiny bit of hairspray to fix the curls).
These straightners are also great for creating flicks for a different style/look.
If my straightners get any residue on them, I just wipe them with a facial wipe or a baby wipe (once cooled) and it removes the residue from the plates.
