After my old straightners broke, I went out looking for some new ones. I didn't want anything fancy I just wanted some that would keep my hair straight.
I came across these at boots, they were reduced from £49.99 to £24.99.
The fancy packaging on them says on the front of the box 'join the shine revolution.'
They also claim to 'create no frizz, sleek hair wih up to 70% more protection from hair splitting and damage. Using the words first straightner with high-heat Teflon Woven Fabric ceramic plate technology. The micro-fibre weave, wraps and cushions the hair, striaghtening with kindness and enviable shine.'
This really appealed to me as even after using protective heat spray I still use to get some split ends with my old straightners.
The straigtners come with heat protective mat which is very useful.as they don't really have anything to keep the hot parts of it off of the surface they are placed on. They do have a heat protection stand but it is tiny and not very good so they do tend to fall on to their side.
These straightners take about a minute to heat up and the have a little wheel that you push round to change the temperature of the straightners. You can have it from 140°C - 200°C. There is a light on the side of the straightners that flashes till the selected temperature has been reached. They also have a plate lock switch, if you turn it one way the plates close together and if you turn it the other way they open up. In addition, they automatically shut off after one hour, I think this is very useful as with my old ones I often forgot to turn them off.
I have found them very easy to use, although the cool tip on them isn't great. When you are suing them on the highest heat setting and you push down on the cool tip there is a considerable amount of heat coming from it, that sometimes makes it too hot to hold.
After using these for a couple of months, I realised that they were still damaging my hair quite badly, even when I was using a protective spray.
I have found with them that unless you use them on the highest heat setting then your will not stay straight for very long at all. Although if I put them on the highest setting and straighten my hair well then in will stay straight for two days. They also tend to make your hair dry but I'm sure this can be helped by using different hair treatments.
I now try to avoid straightening my hair too often and only use them when I have to otherwise I find my hair just becomes so damaged.
I liked it that they turn off themseleves and that they do keep your hair straight....if you use them on the highest setting. They were also very cheap.
I didn't like about them that they still damaged my hair even when protecting my hair. Also, when they dried out my hair.
I would recommend these to you if you want something reasonably cheap that will keep your hair straight. However, I would definitely recommend using protective heat spray on your hair when using these.
