I bought the GHD ones which were the original (and I think first) to unleash the ceramic hair straightener to the public. Yes they were expensive, and yes they did the job- but after only a year, my pair caught fire where the flex goes into the straightener.
No way could I afford to buy another pair, so I picked up the Argos catologue for an alternative- and you've guessed it, I picked out this Remington pair.
Within 3 minutes of plugging them in, they are warm enough to start using- they straighten my hair without taking away its natural volume (something the GHD's did- they made it too flat and lifeless) The temperature dial was pretty useless to me, as I just leave the temperature on the warmest setting- but if you only need them to sort out a couple of kinks- you'd probably find the plates get too hot and so you'd turn them down to one of the lower settings.
The plates are quite large meaning you can cut down the amount of time you spend straightening. They also come with a handy storage pouch- which is great to keep them tidied away in.
I remember paying around 30pounds for them- A great price, one which I would have gladly paid again if anything was to happen to the pair I bought.
However after 2 years I am still using them and they are still as good as the day I got them!
