My old (and very expensive) GHD straighteners had finally bitten the dust. I was in a quandry - should I buy the same brand again or go for something I hadn't tried before. I have two friends at work who have recently bought these straighteners and they both swear by them! Besides, my daughter has very long, unruly locks and by the end of the day, even my tried and trusted GHD's didn't quite live up to their reputation on her hair.
I ventured to my local Argos store and decided to try these out. I think I paid somewhere in the region of about £53 or £54 for them - about six months ago. I have to say that since buying them I've never looked back and wouldn't be without them now. The really good thing about them is that they have steam vents, which I think is kinder and less drying for my hair, which is a little on the brittle side. They are also marvellous for not just straightening, but curling and flicking out the ends if I fancy something a bit different. They can also be used on hair which is still damp, although I have to say that I haven't done this myself yet - I always use them when my hair is bone dry. There's no need to use any expensive hair protective solutions as I find that these do not dry out my hair at all - quite the opposite in fact, they seem to make my hair really shiny and in good condition.
My daughter is completely addicted to them. She uses them once every morning and by the end of the day her hair is still poker straight - a major achievement for her!! I have burnt my fingers and the side of my neck once or twice, but I think this is more carelessness on my part, rather than the fault of the product. The cord is long too, which means they are much easier to handle when doing the back of your head. They are simple to clean and store and I would have to say, given the choice, I would opt for these over my old GHD's every time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone - particularly those with long, thick locks.
