DataSAFE? Unfortunately not..
Review of Datasafe Media CD-R 52x by
Morgoth
Advantages: cheap, available in local shops
Disadvantages: completely unreliable, many glitches and errors
...bought a 100 pack of Datasafe CD-Rs labelled 'silver premium'. These are the kind of inexpensive writable media often available in local computer shops. These were inexpensive, but extremely unreliable CD-Rs in my experience. The CD-Rs were liable to skip when used for audio and liable to corrupt the data written to them when used for backup. Although write quality can be a writer-compability issue, this unreliability was experienced with two different ... ...They also would not burn at all in a 2002 iMac's CD-writer. These discs may be cheap but there are many better, more reliable choices available, especially online, often at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately, it seems to the be the case that quite a lot of CD-R and DVD+/- R media, especially of lesser known brands like Datasafe, are liable to have compatibility or write quality issues. This does not seem to be as widely publicised an issue as ...

King of blank media!
Review of Sony DVD-R 4.7 GB by
danmclovin
Advantages: High quality, low cost!
Disadvantages: None!
I began using Sony DVD-R disks, after switching from Tayio Yuden disks, as they were more cost effective. Tayio Yuden disks are renowned as probably the best disks on the market, however they do come at a price. I saw the Sony DVD-R disks on offer on Play.com some time ago, so I decided to buy some as it worked out quite a bit cheaper than the Taiyo Yuden.
Since the disks were on offer, I was expecting to find them to be of sub-standard quality, ... ...success rate with all the Sony disks that I have burned, about the same as the Tayio Yuden, but at a fraction of the cost.
I have tried many different branded disks over the years, and Sony are definitely the best that I have used, from a quality and cost point of view. A common problem with many other brands is that they will only play movies on certain makes of DVD players, but the Sony disks have played on several different DVD players for me ...

Verbatims that won't let you down!
Review of Verbatim DVD+R 4.7 GB 16x by
AmenTeen
Advantages: Long-life, considerable storage size.
Disadvantages: Not compatible with some os and burners.
Verbatim has always been brand of quality, giving long-life data disks, solid and fair-sized storage. Well, the overall from my own experience is good, but not excellent because yet verbatim might be nor compatible with some CDRW+/DVD reader, the burning process might tragically fail. It's not to be compared with the two innovations giant both of SONY or Phillips, but again, it's something, I'd trust.
This pack has 50 DVD (DVD+R). Fair enough to ... ...120 Minutes of write-once storage capacity, superior recording quality, and compatibility with 1X to 16X DVD+R writers ! It's compatible with most driver brands (Sony, Dell, HP, Compaq, Samsung... Phillips) not to say all. And of course, it's value for your money.
Tip: don't spot laser or expose the lower surface of the DVD to massive sunshine. It will corrupt the data, and you get a RAW disk. If you want to clean from fingerprints or dust particles, ...
