I will begin by getting the only disadvantage out of the way – this brandy is not cheap! It will set you back the best part of £30 for a 70cl bottle.
Last year Dave saved all his Sainsbury’s Reward Points that he had gained from the petrol etc., and bought us a bottle of Remy Martin at Christmas. That way it felt almost like a freebie! We also waited ... ...I’m like!
Remy Martin is sold in a distinctive frosted green 70cl bottle, which is itself, contained in a classy, instantly recognisable red tin. It is 40% alcohol by volume so it’s not a drink to be trifled with!
Anyway I suppose it’s about time I told you about the taste of this nectar from heaven. That is what you buy it for after all!

I do like a drop or two of brandy, or almost anything else alcoholic for that matter, but we won’t go into that now!
I enjoy brandy mixed with pure orange juice and for this drink I would use a shop’s own brand but there are times when a brandy should be taken neat and this is what this opinion is all about.

The unique taste of Remy Martin began with the discovery of double distillation, the second distillation being performed to improve on the quality of the first. The resulting brandy is then left to partially evaporate and the remaining liquid is what we know as Cognac.
Remy Martin founded his own company in 1724, and gradually built a reputation for producing Cognac and using only the best grapes, perfected the art of the distillation in barrels made of only the best wood.
Thus the Remy Martin we know today was born and it is now made only from the two most prestigious grapes from the Cognac region of France – champagne and petit champagne.
According to the back of the tin it has the ‘aromas of vanilla, liquorice, dried apricot and violet’. I must admit I can’t say I have been able to pick out these particular aromas but then I don’t profess to be a connoisseur.
Mind you it does also say on the back of the tin that you can drink it in a tumbler mixed with ginger ale or tonic water. They must be mad! It would be sacrilege to mix this beautiful drink with anything!
This is definitely one for drinking neat. It has the warmth of brandy but it also has a flavour all of it’s own. I find it difficult to describe tastes using words so I’ll have to just say that Remy Martin is very smooth, not in the least bit bitter, and is an excellent aid to the digestion of that special meal.
Of course it is also a lovely drink to be savoured on a cold evening curled up on the sofa!
There is also a web site at www.remy.com from where I got some of my information.
Advantages: Very Easy to Find High quality Well Known Brand Disadvantages: Expensive
...than a glass (or two)of Remy Martin VSOP after a nice meal, perhaps sipped alongside a nice cigar ? This famous brand is the world's best selling VSOP and has been produced in France since the early 18 th century. Today Remy Martin is widely available all over the world and you should have absolutely no problem finding it in off licences, supermarkets, hypermarkets and practically every pub in the land stocks this fine drink. You will also find it ... ...trotting !
To me Remy Martin is very much synonymous with taste and elegance, although I do not rate it as the finest VSOP, for Hennesey happens to be my particular favourite. The other downside is that in UK it is rather pricey-you can expect to fork out around Stg 30 pounds for a 750 ml bottle. It comes in a highly attractive frosted green bottle with the company logo embossed on it. It is 80 % proof and on the alcohol by volume (ABV) scales it ...

Advantages: relativly cheap and blissful for an everyday cognac Disadvantages: not as smooth as some of its equivilents such as courvosier
A real classic from remy martin..the VSOP is really an everyday drink, suple and spicy notes. It costs around £29 per bottle (75cl)
A fine smooth Cognac with rich plummy fruit flavours and aromas and a good dose of oak at the finish.
this is infact a champagne cognac which ensures only the finest grapes are picked from the champagne region and if you know anything about that it will mean that the end result is usually exceptional!
the congnac ... ...it up a notch to remy martin XO it costs around £90 per bottle but its a special drink

Quick review of Remy Martin Cognac, V.S.O.P.
Everything about this cognac appeals to me. Firstly, at this price, is competes very favouable with other cognacs I've bought over the years. It has an incredible deep, multi-dimensional flavour that will hold the interest of the drinker. The flavour is very full, rich and quite sweet - remeniscent almost of the caramelized taste of Spanish brandy, but at a much higher level. The alcohol is intertwined well with the fruit so that it doesn't set your mouth on fire. All this is enveloped by a wonderful finesse and class. Its a genuine pleasure to drink this cognac, and, when one considers the elevated prices nowadays of claret and Burgundy, a real bargain. ...
