Remy was established 1724.
At the moment, Remy now still owns, Cointreau, Krug Champagne and Charles and Piper-Heidsieck.Guided tours of the vineyards and distillery of the hospitable house are available throughout the year. The ticket price is quite reasonable, for more info please go to www.remy.com
Below are the comments which I have tasted before. Try using a cognac snifter.
About the range: Remy only uses two of the best grape regions, from the Grande and Petite Champagnes.

FINE CHAMPAGNE VSOP (much cheaper and better compared to Hennessy VSOP. This is the main cognac in this topic of review)
Contents:cognacs aged for at least 4-7 years.
Looks: amber gold, medium-bodied
Nose: floral, fragrant, fruity, orange, clove
Palate: vanilla, honey, fruity, little smoky, sweet, nuts, silky
Finish: soft, long, little bitterness, spicy, sweet

CLUB DE RÉMY MARTIN FINE CHAMPAGNE (production has lessen)
Contents: A blend of the best crus, aged for at least 10 years.
Looks: dark amber gold, full bodied
Nose: hay, wood, pot-pourri,
Palate: fruity, creamy, robust, smooth
Finish: long, sweet
.
XO SPECIAL FINE CHAMPAGNE (the new ‘XO excellence’ is produced to replace the ‘XO special’. Every bottle is numbered on the neck of the bottle)
Contents: blended cognac aged in Limousin oak for at least 20 to 25 years.
Looks: Gold, full-bodied
Nose: Spicy, floral, chocolate, cinnamon, fruity
Palate: spicy, round, robust, berry, floral, very smooth
Finish: very long, sweet and aromatic, a good challenge to the Hennessy XO

Those three above are those which I have personally tried, there is other range too, but I haven’t tried it out yet. I might do it in the future. Here they are:

EXTRA PERFECTION FINE CHAMPAGNE
No comments. To be honest, I totally have no idea about it.

LOUIS XIII GRANDE CHAMPAGNE
As far as I know, this cognac is stored in a Baccarat carafe which was patterned after an original created during the reign of Louis XIII. Filled with an assemblage of cognacs from the premier cru aged for more than 50 years!.Only 10,000 bottles are produced each year. It costs around 400 GBP a bottle if I’m not mistaken.

Not to go out of track, I’ll get back on commenting more on the V.S.O.P again.
The Rémy Martin V.S.O.P. costs around RM90 ( 12.50 GBP):
This cognac, however, is rated 16/30 by cognac connoisseurs. I’m a little bit disappointed with this. I have no idea why it is rated so low! This cognac deserves better recognition! Anyway, it’s still the world’s best loved and favourite VSOP!
Remy’s VSOP is much sweeter and less spicy compared to any other VSOP brands and I would recommend this to most beginners. Once opened, this cognac should be drunk within 6 months, or else it will loose its aroma!

The bottle comes in a beautiful red box, and the bottle itself is dark green in colour. It comes in various quantities: 50ml, 35cl, 70cl, 1 litre and 3 litre bottle. Alcohol content is 40% (80 proof) Beware of counterfeits. Make sure it has the famous ‘centaur’ picture at the front and the hologram sticker on the side of the cap before you open it. Since this cognac uses a natural cork, I recommend that this bottle to be put on it’s side once in a while (once a month)to keep the cork soft and un-crumbly. Lie on its side maybe for 2 or 3 consecutive days and then stand it up again. Repeat the steps if you plan to have a bottle of this unopened and kept for a long time. However be kept upright most of the time, so that the cork does not get too soggy or else this will result in bad tasting of the cognac.

This cognac definitely goes well with ice, spring water, tonic, juices and most of your favourite drinks. Once I tried mixing it with DOM Benedictine and ice! It surely refreshes me when I’m sleepy!
I'd never actually tried mixing it with champagne yet. I didn't have the right moment to have both of these to mix at the same time!
I always recommend cognacs and whiskies to be tasted neat, or with a few drops of spring water. This is how you can actually taste the real thing!

I remembered taking the first sip of it. I dared not pour too much, and i took a very small sip from my crystal cognac snifter. It was quite overwhelming and powerful at the smell and palate, but i was used to it after a few sips. i had it with my favourite tuna-stuffed Croissant. As time goes by, i did not actually count how many glasses i had consumed but i'm sure it was definately more than 4 glasses for my first time. I had many quick sips as i do not want to leave it open in the air too long cos' i'm afraid it might loose it's aroma. i finished my bottle in less than a month!

I must say. This VSOP is surely a good one to me. My friend actually gave me a bottle of this on April fool’s day. It was empty. How I hope it was full. Darn him! Arghh! i'm still keeping the empty bottle though, just for display.
It is sweet indeed, but I’m sure most beginners might like it. No one likes a terribly bitter or foul tasting VSOP for a start.

For the curious, try cooking scallops with a teaspoon of it, but don'f forget the oil.

The history, i used it a bit from the http://homedistiller.org/detail/362ChapterThree-g.htm website, but all of the tastings notes are done personally myself.

Last but not least, their motto: Commitment to quality. I definitely agree with that.
