This is my first car and i am very impressed. Having learnt to drive in a Clio and liking it a lot, i thought it would be ideal for my first car. However, mine drives totally different from the one i learnt it, but both cars are a lovely, smooth ride and it is a great choice for a first car. 52 reg
INSURANCE&TAX
This car has cheap insurance, especially for first time drivers. It is in a low insurance band and therefore i would highly recommend it to those who have a low insurance budget. Road tax is also cheap, currently i pay £66 for 6 months which considering the credit crunch, it is not too bad. I have found this a cheap car to run, but it doesnt look cheap and it definately doesnt feel cheap to drive.
PETROL CONSUMPTION
With this car being a 1.2, it is really good for fuel economy. It costs roughly £45 to fill up my tank and it lasts quite a while, and i get a really good amount of miles from a full tank (wont quote how many as im not too sure)
APPEARANCE
The exterior of the car is lovely. It looks a sporty little car and is very neat. It is nice and small and therefore easy to park!!! All of the colours i have seen on the clio 1.2 are of a high standard, they all look clean and metallic. My car is metallic silver and always seems to look clean, even though i dont regularly wash it! And when i do it is not too much of a chore as it is really small. I think it looks sporty, tidy and a nice shape! The interior of the car is fantastic. It is a lot more spacious inside than what you may think looking at it from the outside, and i have gone on many long journeys will a full car and everyone has commented on how spacious and comfortable it is for a little car. My partner even drove it the other day and thought it was a good drive, he thought it may be a struggle for him to be comfortable as he is tall, but he said it was a cosy drive. My seats are black with a pattern and look very smart but if buying the car from new, im sure there is quite a range to choose from.
RELIABILITY
As of yet i have had no problems whatsoever with the clio. It always runs wel and passed its MOT this month, so i am more than pleased with the cars reliability.
DRIVING IT
I find the Clio to be a good little driver. The only problem, and it is a minor one, is the clutch is sometimes quite jumpy and you feel like you might stall it, so therefore i tend to put quite a few revs on it before pulling away. But it is a smooth drive and easily handled. The brakes are nice and firm but not to sharp, which i like probably the most about the drive. I have driven my partners car twice(Ford Fiesta Zetec S) and found the breaks too loose, so you had to slam them on in order to stop, but the clio is definately better. Although it is only a small engine, it has plenty power and i find overtaking people in it is not a problem. It drives really good uphill considering the small engine and rarely struggles. It even made it up the big bank on the way to flamingoland without struggling too much!
Overall, i would recommend this car to a wide variety of people, especially as a first car and for those who wish to spend as less as possible on petrol and tax. It is a quality little car and suitable for many, and i am looking to try out the newest version of the clio when i come to change the one i have already, and when i do it will be missed!!
