5 Stars It's like having Elvis on the roof! Review with images 18/11/2005

Advantages Advantages Refined, Head Turning Potential, Superb Handling

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very Impractical, Thirsty, Expensive to Maintain

The Clio V6 is a unique driving experience. There's never been a car quite like it before (maybe except the Renault 5 GT Turbo), and I doubt there ever will be again. Renault took a shopping trolley, chucked out the back seats, and fitted a whopping 230bhp 3 litre engine in it's place, and gave it the sort of outlandish styling that means you see dropping jaws everywhere you go - it's just like having Elvis sat on the roof! The first time I saw one of these cars (on the cover of Auto Express in 1998) I knew I had to have one. I've owned 2 Escort Cosworths in the past, and this was the only car ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic handling, quick, rare, practical, massively fun.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Interior not great, long term reliability as yet unproven, image not for all.

I've had my Renault Clio Trophy for almost two months now and still enjoy each drive more than the last. It really is an outstanding little car. For those of you who don't know, the Trophy is essentially a 182 Cup with a few added extras; added extras that turn what is already an extremely capable hot hatch into something truly exceptional. Just 500 came to the UK, with 50 left-hand-drive models going to Switzerland. Every one bears its number on a small plaque on the base of the driver's seat. The Trophy gets minor cosmetic tweaks: Capsicum red paint (it really is VERY red), a larger rear ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun to drive and lots of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small boot (but then that's expected in a small hatchback)

You know when you try on an outfit off the shelf and it fits as if it was made just for you? That's exactly how I feel about this car. Everything was just in the right place and it just felt "right" from the moment I sat in it. I had my eye on the Clio Sport 2.0l 172 for a couple of years and I scrimped and saved until I had enough to buy one for myself. I bought it new in 2003 and it came with 3 years AA cover. The only one thing I was disappointed about was the colour. I wanted it in bright blue but that colour is only available for the Clio Sport Cup - in the end I settled for the dark blue ... more

THE CLIO SPORT. ******************** In early December my Partner's new toy eventually turned up. The new toy in question was a brand new Renault Clio Sport. 2.0L 16V, Shiny and black, perfectly polished and with less than ten miles on the clock. What's more as a company car it was completely free! A saving of around £15,000. The Clio Sport, originally introduced in 2002, is a limited edition 3-door car and thus there aren't many on the roads. The car benefits from a suspension system developed for maximum driving efficiency. In addition to being lightened by 80kg which helps the car to fly ... more

Renaultsport Clio 182 2.0 04reg Metallic Blue We purchased this car 4 weeks ago and already it has made a huge impression on us! In the family we already have 06 reg Renault Clio Campus 1.2 and liked the quality, so after my boyfriend sold his Saxo VTR we suggested a Clio Sport. Thinking he wouldn't get insured, considering he's 20 and has 3 points, we were pleasantly suprised that he could get insured for £1800 (which was less than his saxo!). 1. The Interior The interior is lovely on these cars. Leather and suade sports seats which are extremely comfortable and are stylish with renaultsport ... more
