Renault Megane 1.6 16v VVT Hatchback

i bought a renault megane in april 2006 and from the first week the car was a problem it had constant intermittent electronic faults displayed on the dash board when i returned the car to the main dealer (Renault Cardiff) i had bought it from they would allways say there was nothing wrong with the car they even once called my wife a LIAR saying that she was making up the fault. then about 8 monthes after i'd bought the car my wife was driving home ...
...i would NOT BUY A RENAULT MEGANE AND DEFINATLLY NEVER BUY FROM RENAULT CARDIFF (penarth road,cardiff) As for the car itself you do get a lot of kit for your money and the keyless entry and go is handy for those times when ur hands are a bit full, also the seats are quite comfatable and the panoramic sunroof is quite good i have read reports that they have a tendancy to break but that never happened to me and the car does stand out from the crowd. ... more

i bought a renault megane in april 2006 and from the first week the car was a problem it had constant intermittent electronic faults displayed on the dash board when i returned the car to the main dealer (Renault Cardiff) i had bought it from they would allways say there was nothing wrong with the car they even once called my wife a LIAR saying that she was making up the fault. then about 8 monthes after i'd bought the car my wife was driving home from her grandmothers with my new born son in the car when it started playing up all the lights started flashing the dashboard lights all lite up and when she did get home she couldnt switch the car off she had to stall the car then call the AA out. When the AA arrived the diagnosed the fault as water leaking into the relay box (a common fault on most megane's according to the AA engineer) the car was towed to the dealer who refused to supply me a courtesy car dispite the car being under warranty. When the car was eventually repaired they then said i had to pay for the repair as water damage was not covered by the warranty (the car was only 2 and a half years old) when i refused to pay they canceled the bill then BANNED ME AND MY CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. which is a strange way to treat customers so in my appinion i would NOT BUY A RENAULT MEGANE AND DEFINATLLY NEVER BUY FROM RENAULT CARDIFF (penarth road,cardiff) As for the car itself you do get a lot of kit for your money and the keyless entry and go is handy for those times when ur hands are a bit full, also the seats are quite comfatable and the panoramic sunroof is quite good i have read reports that they have a tendancy to break but that never happened to me and the car does stand out from the crowd. Rerversing can be challenging as its hard to judge (because of the big bum on the car) the gear change is a little clunky and at motorway speeds the engine can be a little noisy. The worst point about the car is the very bad build quality every thing seems to snap including the handbrake handle and the gloebox handle i think if renault had spent a bit more time and money devloping this car it would have been a realy good car but they seem to have taken the cheap option that realy lets the car down.
