Renault Scenic RX4

Having had the pleasure of driving one of these for over 700miles off road all I can say is nice....
the four-wheel drive setup is very efficient and there is no need to stop and select as this is in constant four wheel with viscous couplings.
The power steering is standard on these.
The air conditioning is eco friendly, and has automatic climate control.
The seating gives very good support and is very comfortable with the bonus that the center rear seat can be used as a table or removed and an electronic cold box fitted.
Electric windows and sun roof as standard and have heat reflective qualities,
very good passive safety system with dual air bag for front passenger and side ones for the rear passengers.
The handling is very good on wet roads as there is traction control to compensate for any deviation from intended line, this works with the anti lock brake system but
on poor roads you have to take it a bit easy, but the fully independent suspension eats up the worst of the humps and bumps.
The body finish is in tough abs and is fairly scratch and scuff resistant around the lower parts of the bodywork.
The chassis is of a galvanised finish and there is a ten-year anti corrosion warranty.
The vital under body items are either tucked away out of harms way or protected by a very substantial guard plate that protects the ally sump and sub frame.
This vehicle has the advantage of size against the Leyland stuff so you don’t look out of place taking the kids to school and going to the supermarket with it
yet when you have the urge to take to the rough just do it and every thing works when you need it.
There is plenty of room for the kids and you can even have a DVD fitted in the rear with the screens in the front headrests.
The only real problems encountered with this vehicle are as follows, the fuel pump stopped working and required renewal, this was done under the very good Renault warranty scheme, but if I had to pay, it would have cost £145 plus the labour charge of £110.
The rear exhaust heat shield stated to foul the left hand rear shock absorber but was easily rectified by a slight bending to reshape it.
The air conditioning was not as efficient as could be and this was also rectified under the warranty, the cause was a leak in the system behind the pump, this only required tightening up and the system recharged with gasss
