This game is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played on the Gamecube. Thanks to Capcom's decision to make all the latest Resident Evil games for the Gamecube, you can't play this anywhere else.
From the moment you watch the introduction movie you know that you are in for a great experience of gaming, the fantastic graphics and the creepy sounds give this game alot of atmosphere.
The story takes place before the first Resident Evil game as you are Rebecca Chambers, the youngest member of the Raccoon City Police Department's S.T.A.R.S Bravo Team. After reports of weird murders involving people eating other people, Albert Wesker, the leader of the S.T.A.R.S unit sent out Bravo team to investigate. The hideout of the man eating murderers has been located so Bravo team get onto their chopper to get there.
Meanwhile a train travelling out of Raccoon City is attacked by a bunch of giant leeches that kill everybody on-board the train. The train crashes and the leeches return to their master, a strange man singing on top of a hill with a very camp voice.
As Bravo Team close in on their destination, their engine blows and they are forced to make an emergency crash landing in a forest. They all survive and decide to scout the area. It's not long before they come across a crashed jeep with two dead MPs. Captain Enrico, the team leader of Bravo, finds a report of the person the jeep was carrying and identifies him as Billy Coen, a former lieutenant of the Armed Forces found guilty of murdering over 20 people. Captain Enrico tells his men to spread out and search for the fugitive Billy, and during the search Rebecca stumbles across a train, the same train that was attacked by the leeches. This is where the game begins.
Gameplay: Man playing this game is so much fun. You run into a room filled with zombies and you get that 'oh crap I gotta kill them before they munch me!' feeling so you panic and start wasting bullets. It is advised that you get used to controlling your panic and save ammo as ammunition for your weapons is in sort supply. You are guaranteed to jump and have fear pumping through your arse if this is your first time you're playing Resident Evil. Some classic monsters are back such as the Hunter, and they have added newer, more annoying enemies such as the Monkeys. They swing, they climb, they run faster on walls to catch you and bite your head off. There are a small variety of weapons that help you out as you explore your surroundings and solve puzzles, and some of these weapons you ought to save for the bigger fights because waste the power on weaker enemies and you will regret it. The puzzles aren't hard to figure out either, just a bit of logical thinking here and there and you will get it sussed, it will be the anticipation of enemies leaping out of nowhere to kill you after you've solved the puzzle that would have you taking a bit longer. In this outing, Capcom have introduced a new way of playing with the team option. Rebecca can have her partner, Billy, travel with her to help her fight the bad guys or she can have him stay in one location while she checks out a different room to make sure the coast is clear. This adds a sense of security and safety that was missing from the other games, and Capcom have played with this sense of security as well. When you think it's ok to go out with your partner, an enemy snatches you away and freaks the heck out of you! You can also switch between players as they both have their different abilities to suit different jobs. For instance Billy is stronger and has better stamina than Rebecca so he can push heavy objects and take on more enemies at one time. Rebecca on the other hand is weaker but can mix herbs and store beneficial chemicals in her mixing kit. To beat the game you need to use them both as a team efficiently and I think this is a fantastic addition to the game. Run into a room filled with zombies arming Billy with a shotgun and Rebecca with a Grenade Launcher, then blast them all away. Tag team carnage at it's best!
Storyline: Its the same story as before, not much has changed from the whole Resident Evil classic plot of there's an evil virus with a big bad evil boss that you must kill. However this game now allows you to discover who created the T-Virus in the first place. To veterans of the game, you will get to see William Burkin, the creator of the G-Virus in Res 2, working with Albert Wesker before they meet an untimely demise later on in the series. The story is still gripping and you want to continue the game to find out what happens next even if you have to fight hordes of creatures to do it. I played Resident Evil 1 Remake on Gamecube because I wanted the story to continue on.
Graphics: Absolutely amazing. Compare these graphics with Resident Evil Code Veronica and you will know how much the graphics have improved. The backdrops, enemies, main characters, objects you interact with have been rendered exceptionally well. The camera angles are fixed, but that just adds to the uncertainty and fear factor of the game. The rain effect when you climb on top of the moving train is also spectacular, so far only Resident Evil 1 Remake has even gotten close to graphics this good on the Gamecube.
Sound: The sound effects and music gives the game the scary atmosphere that has you on edge. The sudden loud sound just as an enemy appears will startle you and in some cases leave you stunned for a moment, and before you know it they would have moved in close to munch on your meaty legs and you've forgotten to aim your gun. Sometimes it plays no music at all and lets you hear the footsteps of the zombies down the corridoor, so you know they are down there but you don't know how close or how many. Really good use of audio effects with excellent lip sync and accurate renditions of object sounds.
Responsiveness: How would this game be if it wasn't very responsive? Every press of a button the character you are using will immediate spring into action. They will aim quickly, turn around immediately to run away and are fast enough to dodge the bad guy before they get to sample your succulent flesh. Controls are easy to remember and use, plus the annoying invisible object collision glitch found in other games is near enough none existance.
Replay Value: Oh yes there is replay value here. Beat the game fast enough and you get secrets depending on how good you are. You can get new and very powerful weapons as a reward, or you can get a gallery to check out the movies in the game. Try and get the Bazooka, man that weapons rocks you have no idea... But of course the game itself isn't very long. You can complete it in just 4 hours, if this game was longer I would of given it a better rating but in any case it's still a highly fun game of blood and gore.
Verdict: If you enjoy survival horrors and/or the Resident Evil franchise then this is a must have game. For those who haven't tried the genre before this is the best place to start and get yourself into the world of shooting zombies. If you dislike this genre then steer clear as there's nothing here different you don't already don't like. Me? I find it very entertaining and I look forward to Resident Evil 4!
Advantages: Graphics, action, music Disadvantages: Similar sound and gameplay
Resident Evil Zero” for Gamecube, well it had to happen sooner or later, seeing that Capcom perhaps used up all the stories for their Resident Evil franchise. They now came up with a new angle lets make a prequel for the first RE1 Game. I think prequels are now going to be the fad in games, when a game company runs out of ideas. ...As far as prequels go Resident Evil 0 is probably one of the most important one in gaming terms that we are going to see for this decade. With each passing game the plot has grown more complicated and even with its sequels there have been contradictions arising from them. Now the time has come to explain everything to fans of the series. How the T-Virus managed to escape, how the Alpha team of STARS met their demise and how Rebecca Chambers found ... ...are not as powerful in Resident Evil (there are no Crimson Heads) but they are far more varied. When the action changes to the labs of Umbrella you will be greeted to the sights of mutated and violent forms of species of animals, from the rabid monkeys to a giant bat. While this may stray slightly from the zombie routs of other games the variety is welcome if sometimes a bit too tacky. Another big change is the lack of chests. In previous games items ...

Advantages: Solid graphics, fleshes out the Resident Evil storyline Disadvantages: Questionable gamplay decisions, frustrating mechanics
Ever since Resident Evil burst onto the scene back in the heady days of 1996, I was hooked on Capcom's survival horror series. The combination of puzzle solving, dodgy tongue-in-cheek voice acting, frantic gun battles and imaginative monsters was, for me, the ideal gaming formula. The original game received a welcome overhaul for the Gamecube a few years ago, and when a prequel was announced focussing on the ill-fated Bravo Team, I was intrigued. ... ...same game engine as the Resident Evil remake. The pre-rendered backgrounds are detailed and imaginative, and the character models are well realized and expressive. The soundtrack is moody and evocative, and the voice acting, while not exactly oscar-winning, is at least competent enough to get by. Set the day before the events of The Mansion Incident, Zero follows the adventures of STARS rookie Rebecca Chambers and her Bravo Team comrades after their ...

a really great feature that makes you decide on what is important and what isn't, making backtracking very important. Also there is the decision on whether to conserve ammo and not kill enemies or not, if your gonna repeatedly return to a room with zombies you will want to kill them so you dont worry later however then they become super zombies (Crimson Heads) so its sometimes really important to have your thinking cap on.
If for some reason you want to play any other ResidentEvil games before this one, I strongly suggest that you dont and play this one first to get the story down and pat.

After having experienced the delights of Streetfighter on the SNES, I was looking forward to playing the N64 updates. Alsa, after three-and-a-half years of its lifespan, no decent fighter (unless you count wrestling games) has been released on the N64. The best one to date, is Fighters Destiny. But even then, the visuals weren't anything to shout about. It was only its originality and innovation which scraped it through.
However, with the imminent arrival of the GameCube, it may just be possible of a return of Streetfighter on a Nintendo machine. After the success of Residen Evil/BioHazard 2 on the N64, it proves that Capcom can recreate that magic on the GameCube. Indeed, ResidentEvilZero is looking more and more likely to be a launch title.
All we need now is a Streetfighter update to make me happy. ...

ResidentEvil has been the most famous and most popular horror/adventure game for some time now. Hollywood realised the cult status and so far two ResidentEvil films have been made.
Capcom signed as exclusive deal with Nintendo a few years back and as a result released ResidentEvil 1, 2 and 3 for the GameCube. It also released ResidentEvilZero (a prequel to the 1st game) and Code Veronica X (taking place after Nemesis). This deal meant that Capcom would only release Residentevil games on GameCube, bad news for Playstation 2 owners, great news for GameCube owners. So the full range of ResidentEvil games on the GameCube is:
ResidentEvilZeroResidentEvilResidentEvil 2
ResidentEvil 3: Nemesis
ResidentEvil: Code Veronica X
However, on the 18th March 2005 Capcom launched the eagerly anticipated ResidentEvil 4 ...
