Being 18 i unfortunately missed the start of the Resident Evil franchise, i was "much too young" for the gore and violence of the games. So when my Dad recently offered to buy Resident Evil 5 so we could play it through together i jumped at the opportunity. We could only play at the nigh,t as I have a younger sister, and the dark only added to the atmosphere.
After having played through the first few chapters together, both my father and I came to the same conclusion, that this was an all round fantastic game, and there was not a lot that could be improved.
Our main worries were the controls, as often you would find yourself surrounded by enemies and struggling to aim quickly at each one, as, like all the other Resident Evil games, it is impossible to move at the same time as aiming. Many people who are fans of the series will claim that this only "adds to the tension" and i would agree with them, but it does seem to fall onto the side of unbelievability, as these are "trained" operatives, who just happen to not be able to move, and shoot?
Apart from that tiny flaw we played through thee whole game together on Normal difficulty and found that some parts are relatively easy, but others can become ridiculously hard if matters get out of hand, and you find yourself with no ammo.
No for the bad part, the reason why this game only gets a 4* rating, and that is the single player. After we had completed the game I went through again on my own, to get extras and obviously Gamerscore points, and the thing that annoyed the most was the stupidity of the A.I second player. Lets just say she was lucky that you can turn Friendly Fire off, or I would have killed her myself on numerous occasions, and also your partner tends to stand in between you and your enemies, so you can't get anywhere near them.
Highly Annoying, but overall an excellent game.
