The Beginning of the End

Advantages: great game | great graphics | been remade
Disadvantages: its scary | not for young kids | never play at night

This is a review about Resident Evil for the Gamecube; it has been graphically enhanced to the Gamecube standards, which makes the game much more fun to play. This game is not short, it is very long, and scary, and also it has a good storyline. It also has bits which make you want to be scared, like when you enter a room, the door opens all freaky, like all resident evil games do.

The game is set in a Mansion that is in the middle ...
...the first Resident Evil game made, but they have made spin off’s and obviously, they have made a prequel, which is Resident Evil 0, I will be writing a review on that in my time. At the beginning of the game, there is a cut scene, where your character and his/her team is being chased by a pack of zombie dogs, which have been infected with the T-Virus. The T-Virus, is a virus that when it has infected someone, they will mutate into a zombie. That ... more

Resident Evil had a makeover and became something truly beautiful

Advantages: Amazing plot and great new plotline, Still superb graphics, Atmospheric music.
Disadvantages: No multiplayer, May not have great longevity for some.

Remember the Resident Evil for the Playstation? The atrocious cut scene at the start that made you want to laugh and cry? The great plot let down by poor graphics? Well Capcom has decided that enough is enough and has decided to bring the original to the Gamecube. Not just a port…or an update in graphics, a totally new game. Gone are the pixellated graphics of the original, in come detailed character models and beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds. ...
...ammunition. The best thing about Resident Evil is the amazing plot which you will very likely become totally engrossed in, regardless of how many times you have played the original, or indeed, this version. Certain events happen differently depending on your character choice. Playing as Jill sees you having prolonged contact with Barry Burton who will help you out occasionally by getting you out of sticky situations or leaving you ammunition. Chris ...

Remake of a classic - better or worse?

Advantages: enjoyable game, lots of zombies to kill
Disadvantages: voice acting is a little off.

...Gamecube remake of the first Resident Evil game, in my opinion, is slightly better than the original. Whilst I enjoyed both games, the remake was much more insightful and frightening to play. Game Plot The player chooses the scenario they want to play which is Chris or Jill. I have only ever played as Jill as her scernario is easier but it is completely down to the players preference. Jill, a member of S.T.A.R.S alpha team, alongside Albert Weskter, ...
...is the major upgrade for Resident Evil - the gamecube graphics are really fantastic, especially against other games that were around that time. They pay alot more attention to detail and the colour of the mansion makes it alot more mysterious. The characters have more 'lifelike' proportions and there facial expressions are a lot clearer. The little things like adding lightening every so often adds to the atmosphere Another feature is the sound, Resident ...

The RE Birth

Advantages: Looks fantastic | Good tension
Disadvantages: Control system

...with Capcom to ensure the Resident Evil series would continue but be exclusive to their platform. PS2 owners were left up in arms but the series doesn’t exactly die because another Gun Surivior is in the works as well as Resident Evil Online. However all new and old Resident Evil games would be coming to the GameCube. The first game to be released would be a remake of the original Resident Evil. For those unfamiliar with the back-story to Resident ...
...to look like in other Resident Evil games when they stuck out against the pre-rendered backdrops. Not anymore. Sound plays a crucial part in any game and, arguably like in horror films, sound in horror games can either ruin or enhance the experience. The sound in the remake is just as impressive as the graphics. Most of the time the background music is silence, the scariest sound of all. You will need to keep your ears peeled for the moans of a zombie ...

It's Resident Evil all grown up

Advantages: Stellar graphics, interesting new take on the game, better voice acting
Disadvantages: Loses a little of the original's charm

...feelings that I inserted the Resident Evil disc into my Gamecube and fired it up. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if I'd like it or hate it. Considering the game was second-hand, I didn't even know if it would work. Anyone who read my review of the original Resident Evil will know the story by now. You and a small group of comrades are stranded in a remote mansion that you have to explore while fending off zombies, slavering dogs and ...
...Part of the original Resident Evil's charm was the sense of hokey fun to be had - the shambling zombies, the strangely light and cheerful backgrounds, the cheesy dialogue and the hammy boss fights. Each of these things could be seen as flaws, yet for some inexplicable reason they somehow made it a better game. They conveyed the sense of being inside a B-movie horror film. The remake is a far more competent survival horror game - it's darker, grittier, ...

Time To Get Scared...

Advantages: It's Actually Scary
Disadvantages: Those Damn Doors

...I’ve never got into the Resident Evil series; supposedly it wasn’t scary and the controls were quite dodgy. Although I did come very close to getting a Resident Evil game in the days of the Playstation, but I was put off by these little pieces of information. But now, a new Resident Evil game is out, a remake of the first game, but this time on the GameCube. Now how could I resist such an amazing looking game? There was one thing that really lured ...
...all the control issues. Let me assure you, there are no control issues! Although the idea of using an acceleration button to move forward doesn't sound like the best idea in the world, it's needed in these situations. These situations? To make the game seem scary, Capcom have set camera angles for different parts of the game. This means you keep going in the same direction even though the camera angles are changing. Change the controller settings ...

Resident Evil Phwoar!

Advantages: Grpahics, Game play, Great Plot
Disadvantages: Not enough copies in the stores, Not for the faint hearted

Resident Evil has been the most famous and most popular horror/adventure game for some time now. Hollywood realised the cult status and so far two Resident Evil films have been made. Capcom signed as exclusive deal with Nintendo a few years back and as a result released Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 for the Game Cube. It also released Resident Evil Zero (a prequel to the 1st game) and Code Veronica X (taking place after Nemesis). This deal meant that Capcom would only release Resident evil games on Game Cube, bad news for Playstation 2 owners, great news for Game Cube owners. So the full range of Resident Evil games on the Game Cube is: Resident Evil Zero Resident Evil Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Resident Evil: Code Veronica X However, on the 18th March 2005 Capcom launched the eagerly anticipated Resident Evil 4 ...

Review of Resident Evil 4 (GameCube)

Evil REborn

Advantages: Gorgeous | Highly entertaining | A fantastic new direction
Disadvantages: Some minor niggles

Out of all the ?Capcom 5? games it was without doubt that Resident Evil 4 was the most anticipated. Of course, since then, out of the group one game has been canned and three (including this one) are ported to PS2 with only one of the games remaining exclusive to the GameCube as intended. Things change for better or worse but they always spark interest, so when it was revealed that Resident Evil 4 was taking a brand new direction it was certainly going to cause a stir. Heading back a few years when the game was first announced it seemed that it was going to be a typical Resi game that we knew so well. There wasn?t much to go on at the time except that Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 2 was back and this time he?s followed the evil Umbrella Corporation, the source of all the zombie madness, to the very heart of its empire. From ...

Resident Evil 2

Advantages: Good game, good playability
Disadvantages: Graphics could have been better

of February, I?m going to be out of work time. As March nears I?m going to purchase the Wind Waker and Pokemon, so expect some activity in March. As far as the Resident Evil hoopla goes, it?s ended. Capcom has made all 3 remakes, and the new RE Zero exclusively for GameCube, so it?s kind of disappointing to have the anticipation end. Resident Evil is a crucial bridge between the story, so any newcomers need to try it out. Hopefully, new Resident Evils come out, and hopefully for GameCube only. Something strange is that I haven?t seen the ?GameCube Only Tab? on the game?s box, but I haven?t seen it for PS2. Anyways, RE2 is another great remake that any gamer should try. Fear Can?t Kill You But... ...
