Advantages Advantages Immersive, great graphics, great story expansion and characterisation, fun, accessible, visceral.

Disadvantages Disadvantages In order to get the best out of it, you need a light-gun peripheral, and a friend to play with.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a 2007 rail shooter released for the Nintendo Wii. It explores the events of classic survival zombie horror titles Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil I, and Resident Evil III, as well as touching briefly on Resident Evil II. The player assumes the roles of myriad classic characters from the franchise, including Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and, for the first time ever... brace yourself, Albert Wesker. I didn't know anyone who played through Resident Evil I without wondering what it would be like to see the events through Wesker's standard ... more

Advantages Advantages Long game, pretty sweet light-gun mechanics.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The bizarre inclusion of movie info, but the reducing of characters. O_O

ust like the zombies in the games themselves, Capcom has resurrected its gun survivor franchise and has unleashed Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on unsuspecting Wii owners. The last gun survivor game here in the US came out in 2003 (RE: Dead Aim) and was actually a pretty decent offing. Umbrella Chronicles turns Resident Evil 0, REmake (the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 1), and RE3 into light gun games, and throws in an all-new location to boot. This is one nostalgic trip down blood soaked memory lane for Resident Evil fans. But people just looking for a good time will find it here ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun gameplay, Fills in the gaps between games very well, Superb exclusive content.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Might be a bit confusing for newcomers to the series.

An exclusive Resident Evil for the Wii? Indeed it turned out to be so, Resident Evil fans may be aware that spin-offs from the main series are in general, terrible. I was overjoyed upon finding out that Umbrella Chronicles is indeed, not just better than all spin-offs but is also, in my opinion, better than some of the games in the main series, despite being an on-rails shooter, contrasting sharply with the other Resident Evil games. I find it important to point out that Capcom has made this as a ‘love letter’ to fans, specifically the die hard Wesker fans, who (believe me) are numerous ... more

Advantages Advantages Good storyline and graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not being able to control movement

I recently bought a few Resident Evil games I had yet to try from Amazon. The Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii console cost me around £7 used including delivery which I thought was a good price especially as the used copy I got appeared brand new. This was released in 2007. The game has an age rating of 15 as if contains violence. Not all of the levels are 2 player, but selected levels can be played by 2 people although I am yet to try this out and have only played single player. You will need a nunchuck controller as you will need to use both hands to control the game. This was the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good graphics, Good sound, great controls, wonderful shooting everything fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages The stupid 'hit the right button' sectoins which have nearly ruined it for me

I was lucky enough to get this game for my birthday from my girlfriend who knows I like shooting games (I have a playstation set up with 2 G-Con45s, and copies of Time Crisis, and Point Blank 1, 2 &3 which we still play together frequently for hours at a time. This sounded like the perfect game, zombies (another love of mine) and shooting, what could possibly be better. It was literally only a few minutes before I was excited to get this game playing. Upon loading, we were presented with graphics, which I have to sayu were pretty impressive, ok not up there with game ont he 360 or Playstation ... more
