Advantages: easy to install, a monkey could do it Disadvantages: don't live on a street with car alarms
...Where do i start, and easy alarmsystem to put together and install yourself will take you about 30-60 mins.
but the alarmsystem is activated via infra red system so when someone else is arming there car alarm or your neighbour 2 doors down as got the same alarmsystem it can set yours off. so can get very annoying.
customer support via phone no. on the packaging and via the internet is not one of the best. but they do have many extra's you can add to the system, ie. keypads, extra pirs etc.
basically a cheap and cheerful alarmsystem. does the job!!
extra's can only be purchased via the phone the internet side as not been set up for orders yet. but i have been informed this is going to happen with the next 6 months...

Advantages: Easy to Install Disadvantages: Has a mind of its own!
...Originally bought this alarm after realising the walls to my house are half a metre thick. Not good for drilling cable holes.
Anyway, it was easy to install and looks just like a wired alarm. However, after only a week, we had real trouble disarming the system. This was particularly problematic when coming back from a night out at 3am, not something the neighnours appreciate at all. The key ring disamer and the keypad intermittantly fail to disarm the system.
Spoke to Micromark who suggested lots of little things that didnt work, even suggested changing batteries which were just a week old!
I took it back in the end, to Argos where I bough it who gave me a new shiny one. This I installed using instructions to the letter and had no problems for about a week.
Then the system managed to find a mind of its own and armed itself...

Advantages: Easy to install and use, Zoneable Disadvantages: sensors are a bit expensive, but they ARE wirefree
...Having just been burgled, I decided to install a burglar alarm, and the best I could find for the money, was the Response RE5000S.
This alarm retails at about £170. The 5000s is a wire free system, so installation is very much a piece of cake. You just screw the keypad to the wall, screw the sensors into place, put the siren/strobe on the wall outside and away you go.
The alarm is zoneable, that is, you can set each sensor to be part of a zone ( zone 1 upstairs, zone 2 downstairs, zone3 garage etc) and you can "part arm" the system if required, such as arming the downstairs zone but not the upstairs one when you go to bed. ( saves setting the alarm off when you get up in the middle of the night for a pee.
In the box you get the keypad, one remote control, one siren/strobe unit, one Passive infra red detector and one door...
