Andy Riley is a man of amazing imagination with a cruel twist. However with four best-selling books under his belt all laced with black humour (something serious given a funny twist) he must be doing something right. Long ago my fiancee nicknamed me bunny. For a reason which is never made clear (maybe they ran out of carrots) bunnies are having a serious crisis. The bunny suicide hotline has failed them and they are all on the journey to the next life. Sounds cruel right? Yet for some reason which is endearing to Andy he manages to make you smile, giggle or burst into hysterics at these strange little creatures.

The concept of the book is simple. For a reason which is never made clear (maybe they ran out of carrots) bunnies are having a serious crisis. The bunny suicide hotline has failed them and they are all on the journey to the next life. Sounds cruel right? The cover of the book is green and glossed over to prevent smalls scratches. The top third of the page has 'Return of the bunny suicides' written over it. Underneath is a illustration of what you should expect to be inside. A Bunny badly camouflages like a bowling pin surrounded by the rest in a triangle, a bowling ball speeding towards him.
All illustrations are caption less and follow like the one on the cover. Another bunny is coming to the end of his life by his own doing and when it comes to their final moments they are letting their creative streak get the better of them. Your eyes and mind are expected to do the work and even though it isn't very hard, it is incredibly amusing. Each page is totally different and can range from one simple picture, to a cartoon strip telling a story. Looking at these sketches closely can sometimes reveal cute little extras like photos in the background or writing on some paper. The difference from this book to its original is that some are up to date (at time of print of course). Ranging from Lord of the rings to political spoofs, there is something for everyone. Wheather or not you show this to a child is purely down to you. Some young children might find this destressing as something they assosiate with cute, cuddly and loving is being harmed. Of course this is dependant on their age and understanding of life so far. Personally I wouldn't recommend it for any child under ten.
This is a sure quick flick book. With only 50 pages and one 'story' each, it doesn't take long to reach the end. However that doesn't devalue the book at all. Each illustration has been done with care. Your eyes can scan over the page to find what is going on which in turn can have you laughing your head off. With the bunny suicides now having posters, postcards and mobile wall paper making loads of extra revenue it is no suprize to see that a new book is currently in the woodworks. I love this book and find it a little injection of fun. I would view this as a humour gift as it would have a short life but would be alot better then a chocolate shaped body part!

Advantages: Funny, amusing, entertaining Disadvantages: Doesn't take long to read, about death
This book is amusing, but feels like it shouldn't be. On every page are black and white cartoons of rabbits finding new and inventive ways to commit suicide. The cartoons aren't brilliant masterpieces, just simple line drawings but it's easy to see what's going on in each one. A lot of them are very funny, but I feel slightly guilty about laughing at death. Some of the cartoons take up just one page, some spread over several. Similarly, there are ... ...frames to tell the story of how the rabbits plan their deaths. They are all interesting and original, which is impressive given there are two books of these things. There are a lot of references in the book as well, to Dr Who, the Terminator, Lord of the Rings and many others. A lot aren't references at all and are just ways to die, so the humour will reach everyone. It might not be a good idea to let little kids read this, just in case they decide ...
