The best train books EVER
Review of The Thomas the Tank Engine Collection - Rev. W. Awdry by TimothyC

Advantages: Good stories and good pictures kids will love them
Disadvantages: The book is a bit big

...These are some of the most enduring children’s stories that have been written, as although the first book was written 55 years ago they are still popular. For me the one thing that makes the stories is the artwork as the quality of it is rarely seen in modern children’s books. The stories are well written and any kid who loves these as much as I did will know their favourite off by heart. There are many stories about all the engines, but due to his TV, and now film, exposure most kids will have heard of Thomas. This book contains all the 26 stories that where written by the Rev. Wilbert Awdry, but although his son has continued the tradition these are still the best. The book itself is £30, you may be able to buy it cheaper, but even at full price it is only £1.15 per book compared to £4 to £5 for them singly, it’s a bargain. You... Read review

Advantages: Lots of stories that should keep any Thomas fan going for quite a while!
Disadvantages: Big & heavy & if it gets ruined you've lost all of the stories instead of just one.

A book that is not for kids
Review of The Island of Sodor - Rev. W. Awdry by TimothyC

Advantages: A background to the Thomas the tank engine stories
Disadvantages: I'll just get my anorak

...You may have seen the authors name and thought that thi is in the wrong place, but I can assure you that it is in th right place. This book is one for those who have grown-up with Thomas the Tank Engine and have thought what is the island that was created by the Rev. W. Awdry really like? The island, for those that don’t know, is situated just off the English coast between England and the Isle of Man. The book gives you a history of the places in Sodor that are near the six railway lines on this small island and those people who have been prominent in both the history of the railways and in the island itself. I know I sound like I should don my anorak now, but this small book by the Rev. himself is drawn from the two talks that he gave; one the history of the island and the other on the history of the railways. It is written very... Read review
