Reveal pregnancy test is one of the cheapest I have come across, and I've used a few in my time.
Reveal comes in a little pink box, more like a small tampon box than the long, thin, blue boxes you normally associate with a pregnancy test.
So if you wanted to be a bit discreet then it's not immediately obvious what you have in your little chemist's bag.
You can get them as a one or two test box, the one test box ... ...£4.99. I bought mine at a local Vantage chemist but they are available at Boots (though not on their web site), Lloyds and most other pharmacies.
I don't know of many people who would buy a one test box - you usually want to do more than one to be certain, whichever result you are hoping for. Also, if it's your first time you might want to have another handy in case of mishaps.

Reveal comes in a little pink box, more like a small tampon box than the long, thin, blue boxes you normally associate with a pregnancy test. So if you wanted to be a bit discreet then it's not immediately obvious what you have in your little chemist's bag.
You can get them as a one or two test box, the one test box retails at about £2.99 and the two test box about £4.99.
The box contains either one or two individually foil-wrapped indicator sticks. A tiny cup and the instructions.
My advice would be to lock yourself in a bathroom (with a toilet) with a bit of room to manouvre and at least ten minutes to spare. Don't try it in a public toilet unless your aim is good or you have some help.
Your first wee of the morning is best because this is when your urine will have the greatest concentarion of hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin -a hormone produced by the developing foetus) . If you do the test too early (eg before the day your period is due) it may be that there isn't enough of the hormone to affect the test. . Are you sitting comfortably? Then you can begin. Open one of the little packets and inside you will find a little indicator stick. The stick is quite tiny, about 3" (8cm) long and 1/4" (0.5cm) wide. There will also be a little packet of silica gel, this is just to keep the test dry and you can discard it. What you are meant to do is wet one end of the stick with (your own) urine (two little pink arrows indicate which end of the stick to wet).
You mustn't get any other part of the test stick wet or it may affect your result. Weeing directly on to the test without splashing may prove difficult. If you're feeling confident of your aim and have good control of your bladder then go for it, just have something to hand to wipe your fingers on .
They provide a little pot to wee into but it is very small and quite fiddly to aim into especially if you have thighs that get in the way like mine.
Once you have got the pot filled, put the pot to one side. Finish your wee. Pull your pants up then continue. If you try to do it any other way you will be juggling pots and sticks, with your pants round your ankles, mid-wee. Not conducive to a dry atmosphere.
Don't try and balance the stick in the indents within the pot, even though the instructions show this. The pot and stick are too flimsy and the test will slide all the way in making your test void and you will have to start all over again. If you only bought one test, then don't say I didn't warn you.
Right, so dip the very end of the little stick into the urine and you will see the test start to absorb it as it rises up the stick. Leave it in for about 10 seconds, 20 if you really want to be sure.
You can take it out now, empty the pot and dispose of it in the bin, and either leave the test for five minutes while you make a cup of tea or sit and watch it intently (my personal favourite).
After five minutes there should be at least one little horizontal blue line about halfway up the stick.
If there are two then the test is positive and you are pregnant.
If there is only one either it is negative or you have done the test too early. If your period doesn't arrive in the next week they advise you to do another test (one time I had to do three tests before I got a positive result).
I found it as accurate as any of the other tests I have tried. As long as you follow the instructions properly there is no reason for it not to work just as well as any of the more expensive tests.
The only advantage the more expensive ones have is that the little stick is enclosed in a plastic case and the end you are supposed to wet is more substantial making them easier to hold and use.
The only true test is time, but if you have any doubts or worries I would advise you to go and see your GP.
Advantages: Very cheap, small packet so it is discreet Disadvantages: not always able to detect a very early pregnancy
I have just been reading through some of my earlier ops and I really cannot believe how awful some of them are!! I am in the process of updating and editting the worst! This one being one of the first.
There have been a number of times in the past where me and hubby have had concerns that I may have been (or hoping) to be pregnant. I am not one of these people that can wait for a result from the doctor, I HAVE to know straight away. I have found ... ...the market these days and many of them are very expensive. This test is very simple to use, very accurate (in fact it is virtually the same sort of test they use in hospitals and clinics) and best of all it is not all that expensive. For a box containing 1 test they are priced at £2.99 in my local chemist and for a box with 2 tests they are £5.99. This is a pretty universal figure and the price does not alter much form chemist to chemist. I have ...

Advantages: VERY cheap, easy to use cup Disadvantages: You have to use it first thing for an accurate result
I bought this for £1.99 from my local home bargains. I usually do a test every few months to check that my pill is working properly (a must if like me you tend to vary the times you take it or if you've been poorly) and thankfully it has!
The downside of this test being so cheap is that for a really accurate result you MUST use it in the morning as that's when it's most likely to detect the pregnancy hormone HcG thingy. You basically pee into a ... ...and then check. 2 lines for pregnant (oh god curl up and die!) and 1 line for "phew, thank god!" (not pregnant!).
I would buy this again as it does the same as all the other expensive kits and it's simple to use. I've onyl seen it in Wilkinson's and Home Bargains but I think soem cheaper chemists would do it too. ...

Advantages: CHEAP EASY TO USE Disadvantages: NONE REALLY
I THINK THAT THE REVEAL PREGNANCY TEST KIT IS REALLY EASY TO USE. ITS ALSO VERY CHEAP SINCE MOST HOME TEST KITS ARE PRICES AROUND £7.99 PLUS THIS ONE IS ONLY £2.99. THE TEST KIT CAN BE USED AT ANY TIME OF DAY BUT THEY RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE IT IN THE MORNING SINCE THAT WILL BE THE MOST ACCURATE TIME OF THE DAY. THIS ONE REALLY WORKED FOR ME AND ITS NOT COMPLICATED ONE BIT YOU JUST WET THE STICK AND WAIT FOR THE LINES 1 FOR NEGATIVE 2 FOR POSITIVE ...

Well, I’m not going to tell you just yet, you’ll have to read on to find out!
As I was sitting waiting for the pregnancytest to reveal the result this morning, a thought popped into my head (well, it does happen sometimes!). ‘Is there a category for this on Ciao?’ And sure enough, there was. Not many opinions in it yet, so time for me to add my pennies worth.
Yep, for the umpteenth time, I did a pregnancytest this morning. Now before anyone gets the wrong idea about me, I am happily married, have 2 beautiful daughters and would love another baby. So this wasn’t a panic ‘Oh my goodness I hope I’m not’ kind of test, this was a ‘It would be lovely if I am but not the end of the world if I’m not’ kind of test!
The reason that I have done rather a lot of pregnancy ...
