    I have had a portfolio of .co.uk and .com domain names for many years and have always found 123-reg to offer the best value for money as far as .co.uk domain names were concerned I have more that 60 .co.uk domain names with them and have never had a major issue with their seamless on-line service, as long as nothing needs human intervention from them they have a great set up That all went HORRIBLY pear shaped however as far as their web site hosting goes !     Undoubtedly the worst hosting company I have ever had to deal with - their site builder crashes, the support team work 9am to 5pm mon-fri but are permanently inaccessible even during these times and the automated help system is useless (tells you there is no problem) and customer service are, in my experience, actually non-existant (I have failed to get in touch with them via email or telephone !). A company to avoid at all costs.

    It made me laugh (or cry - not sure which) when I saw that 123-Reg had been voted the best web hosting company on webuser.co.uk. How did this happen? The reason I ask is that I have had no end of trouble with their (non-existant) support over the past month or two. First they withdraw services from their hosting package that I have paid for without any consultation or notice. Then, I encounter problems where I cannot upload changes to my website.     PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH OR DO ANY BUISINESS WITH REG-123. THEY ARE A TOTAL WAISTE OF TIME. I had an ecormmerce site with them for approx 6mths, made payments and all of a sudden had my site was removed by them. Their suport is none existant as all emails they send to you is from a non-reply address. I desperately tried to get my site re-instated and submitted a support request via their online-support site.     123 have a decent website which is easy to understand and use. Registration of names is simple, and signing up for hosting is straighforward. So far, so good... Then the problems begin. The "sign-in" details they sent me to upload my site are not recognised by any of the FTP's I use. So I email their "support" asking for advice. Five days later, and after numerous follow-up emails, I am still awaiting even an acknowledgement. Their telephone support is premium rate, which I refuse to use to get help with THEIR mistake.     Great customer service I found their prices competitive, control panel very user friendly and when I had a problem their support team were very professional, friendly and efficient. They replied to my query within 5 minutes which is a real shocker for my past experiences of various hosting companies!! This ciao review site has asked me to write 120 words but I really have nothing else to say so will just repeat until my 120 are used up.     Probably yes, and I am writing this in share frustration having tried to get in contact with them over their 'web forwarding' facility which does not work. I had one robotic reply 6 days after my initital query which did not address the problem and nothing since then despite renewed attempts on my side. I refuse to pay 50p x minute through their phone helpline for a problem which is quite obviously at their end so I have started looking around and will move my portfolio of 27 active domain names elsewhere.     123-reg is cheap and gives great value for money. I have five domains with them. There control panel is a bit confusing but ok. I've never used their hosting option so cannot comment on that. When there automated system fails and requires you to contact support your in trouble. Most the emails I've sent them are ignored if you do get a reply it can take weeks. You can phone there customer service helpine, but you'll be lucky if anyone picks up the phone and if they do it will cost you 50p. They will not refund the call charges to this line even if the problem you called about is their fault ... more

    Custormer service was appaling. Never felt the need to write a review but seriously go through a different domain company if possible. We had a couple of domains we renewed over a year ago. Money was taken off of us, but it was never renewed and expired without our knowledge. Wasnt until recently when our own records showed it was up for renewal we realised i never had been. Accounts showed the money being taken from us, and they were very aware when we contacted them. Their online portal and call centre kept referring me to the other getting me nowhere.     I have been a customer of 123-Reg for a few years now, and have noticed a rapid decline in quality of service over the past 12 months. They may have a decent website which is easy to use, and registration of domains is relatively straight forward (as it is with most companies), but wait until they charge your credit card for domains they have not been sucessful in registering (despite advertising to the contrary) and try to get a response from their customer services.
